2b. Develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to
pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their
own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own
progress.
3d. Model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate,
analyze, evaluate, and use information resources to support research and learning
Computer lab, smart board, worksheet, online assessment, pencils
Students will watch Rounding to the Nearest Ten. After this, 10 volunteer
students will share their favorite number with the class. We will use these numbers
to introduce rounding to the nearest tens and hundreds.
Day 1:
We will start our lesson by showing a video Rounding to the Nearest Ten.
Then well pick 10 volunteers to say their favorite number and round it to
the nearest tens or hundreds if applicable.
After that, we will go to the smart board and utilize the Round About
lesson from Beacon Learning Center.
At the end of the lesson, they are several practice questions. Students will be
chosen to come up and complete problems on the smart board without help.
Then we will go over each question step by step as a class to check the
students work.
Once we see that most of the students are prepared to move forward, we will
pass out a worksheet to be completed alone. We will be available to give
extra help.
Day 2:
The class will go to the computer lab for an online assessment.
The kids will use two games on AAA Math to test their abilities. One game
for rounding to the nearest tens and another game for rounding to the nearest

hundreds.
Students will complete 50 problems for each game (100 total)
Once they have finished, students can click report totals and print out their
results.
Students will be in the computer lab for an hour. If they are done before our
time is up, we will allow them to pick from 3 educational games to practice
on (sumdog, brainpop, or reading egg) until everyone has finished.
1. The Round About lesson from Beacon Learning Center has several practice
problems included in the lesson that students will complete without assistance.
Then we will go over the steps and answers as a class.
2. The students are expected to do the worksheet without help from peers but they
will have the option to ask the teachers for help.
We will assess them by their scores on AAAmath.com in the computer lab
on Day 2.

Gifted: While in the computer lab, gifted students will be given an additional game
to play. It is a more challenging game that focuses on the same concepts.
ELLs: Students will be given the same rounding games as the rest of the class but
Accommodations/ they are entirely in Spanish. One game will help them practice rounding to the

nearest ten place value. The other game focuses on rounding to the nearest hundred.
Disability (Hearing impaired): Most of our lesson is visual except for the video
used in our anticipatory set. To help students with hearing impairment, we will play
the video with subtitles.
