Class Activity #1: Teacher Says

*Go through the whole list of actions verbs on the note cards so students understand what each of them are
Directions:

Everyone stand up and acts out the action verb that the teacher "tells" you to do
If the teacher does not say "teacher says..." before the verb and someone still acts out the verb,
they are out and will sit down

Class Activity #2: Partner Charades

*Pass out a note card to each student that has an action verb on it
Directions:

Find a partner and a writing utensil

Each partner reads the action verb on their own card and will act out the verb to their partner who
will have to try and guess the action verb that they are acting out

After each partner has acted out their action verb and correctly guessed the other persons verb,
work together to write 2 sentences using your 2 action verbs on the back on your note card using
whichever tense of your choice

When you are both finished, turn them back into me!

*Walking around at this time, giving corrective, comprehensible feedback to students when needed
*Class regroup together:
Volunteers?
Lets share your sentences with the class! (pick on 5 students to share if no one volunteers)
Questions?

Class Activity #3: Competitive Charades

*Divide the class in half into two groups, groups will use note cards that were passed back from the
previous activity
Directions:

Each group of students will have a pile of cards with action verbs in front of them.
One student from each group must act out of the verb without talking while the rest of the group
guesses it.
Once the group guesses the verb, one member from the group must write it on the chalkboard,
creating a list of all the verbs guessed.
After the verb is written down, the next group members turn is up to act out the verb, and so on
and so forth.
The group with the most verbs guessed on the board after 3 minutes wins.
