and Bylaws and work in partnership with other departments or individuals during the course of

Senate Staff Support

During monthly College of Education (CoE) Senate meetings, I was responsible for taking
attendance and minutes. I also developed these minutes for approval to the CoE Senate
Secretary. I also conducted literature reviews for Senate Committees on issues impacting the
CoE (governance, personnel, student/faculty relations, etc.) I also set up for meetings, including
organizing refreshments, setting up audio/visual equipment, distributing materials, cleaning, etc.

Communications Intern

I assisted in tracking news stories in broadcast, print and online media. I also drafted and edited
press releases for distribution to relevant local media and drafted and edited positive stories for

Access to College Excellence (ACE) Peer Mentor

First Year Programs, University of Hawaii at Mnoa, Honolulu, HI
I developed, planned and implemented campus activities which fostered student engagement for
incoming freshmen. I also established positive working relationships with students, staff and
faculty. I served as a Peer Mentor for one of the freshmen seminar courses (CAS 110), where I
facilitated and led class discussions and gave classroom presentations on goal setting, time
management, learning styles, and campus involvement. Additionally, I mentored students on
interpersonal, social and academic problems, used empathetic understanding, reflection on
feelings, and goal setting. I also referred students to appropriate campus resources. I was also
responsible for assisting in the planning of the ACE Bash held in October 2013, and served as
Co-Chair of the Programming Committee where I co-led several other peer mentors and had
oversight over coordinating the overall program of the event, logistics, and other related tasks.

Associated Students of the University of Hawaii at Mnoa (ASUH), Honolulu, HI

As President, I served as the chief executive officer of the ASUH Senate and presided over all
General Senate and Executive Committee meetings. I made various appointments with the
approval of the Senate, including appointing over 30+ students on a diverse amount of
committees, boards, and groups for the purpose of representing the ASUH. I also represented
ASUH in all official dealings with the University Administration, the faculty, and other
organizations, firms, and persons. I was also responsible for the general welfare of the ASUH
and for the enforcement of the Constitution and By-Laws.
Key accomplishments included:
Appointing over 30+ undergraduate students on various committees, boards, and other
groups for the purpose of representing the ASUH and providing student voice on
decisions, matters, and issues within the University of Hawaii and the Mnoa campus
Oversaw annual budgets of over $400,000 and an over $7 million stock portfolio
o Worked with the ASUH Lead Advisor, Treasurer, and Chairperson of the
Committee on Finance each year to develop and craft the annual budget
o Worked with the Chairperson of the Committee on Investments and Long Range
Planning and Financial Advisors from Merrill Lynch regarding the ASUH
Stadium Stock Fund and presented a proposal to the Board of Regents to change
investment managers
Represented the student voice at the State Legislature by meeting with key legislators,
presenting and submitting testimony on various measures impacting the University, and
working with legislators regarding matters related to undergraduate students
Enhanced the presence of the undergraduate student government through increased
awareness of programs and services provided by the ASUH Senate, increased use of
social media, and other strategic initiatives to build the ASUH Senates relationship with
its constituencies
Met, developed, and maintained working relationships with key administrators, faculty
and staff to collaborate on student initiatives
Worked with each Senate on drafting and implementing legislation, producing five times
the amount of passed resolutions and two times the amount of passed acts from 2010
Worked with Senate members, departments, offices, and other constituents consistently
to draft legislation to appropriate funds for the betterment of students, including the
appropriation of over $100,000 in FY14 on student-oriented projects and initiatives
Worked with the Chief Elections Officer and communicated with college deans and
constituents to increase the participation in ASUH elections, leading to having full
representation from each college at some point for the past two years in the 38-member
Senate
Oversaw the implementation of new programs, including a Registered Independent
Organization (RIO) Mixer, workshops for our RIO funding cycle and campus life events
Served on several search committees to represent the student voice
Appointing undergraduate student members to the ASUH Student Court
As Secretary, I maintained accurate and complete files of the minutes of all meetings of the
Senate and all committees thereof. I also kept safely and open to the inspection of all ASUH

members, all records and documents of the ASUH and of its officers, agents and the Senate. I
also performed such other duties as may be assigned by the President or the Senate.

As Spring Leader, I served as a peer mentor to incoming transfer students to the Mnoa campus
by leading discussions of academics, how to register for classes, miscellaneous workshops, and
acted as a guide on campus tours. Reported to the Director of Student Involvement and
Leadership Development.
As Senior Leader, I managed orientation sessions by emceeing the program along with other
leaders and assisted in other administrative duties, such as overseeing summer leaders
throughout sessions and ensuring rooms and workshops were prepared ahead of time. I had
oversight of the Involvement at UHM workshop development, which encompassed a 15minute video of how to get involved at the Mnoa campus and a discussion of experiences from
summer leaders personal involvement. I also had oversight of leadership development of
summer leaders throughout the duration of the summer program. Reported to the Coordinator for
New Student Orientation.
