Summary of the Services/Goals of the Organization/Agency


RHDs mission is to empower people as they build the highest level of independence possible, building
better lives for themselves, their families and their communities. From providing residential services for
individuals with mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, chemical addiction and those
who are homeless to job training, assisted transportation, and crisis intervention, RHD provides
individualized, quality assistance wherever the need exists.

Internship Goals
1. To successfully implement Network Inclusion Criteria (NIAC) best practices in four of
RHDs mental health residential programs where applicable.
2. Develop an understanding of the internal structure and daily operations in regards to the
management team, operations of each programs, and supports offered to clients served.
3. Develop professional skills relevant to working in administration in nonprofit organization.
4. Learn to develop realistic timelines and how to track the domains implemented in each
program through measures and outcomes.
5. Develop leadership skills and learn how to conduct effective and efficient supervisions.
6. Develop a better understanding of proper documentation, staff evaluations, and supervision
skills.

Role of the Supervisor


1. Provide feedback to the student intern regarding work quality.
2. Assist the student intern by answering questions regarding the operations of Resources for
Human Development.
3. Coaching, mentoring, and supervisory support.
Services to be Provided by the Student Intern
1. Review the NIAC tool and DBH guidelines for Mental Health Programs.
2. Review program descriptions of each program; meet with management team to understand
the daily operations of the programs; identify their success and barriers; and how staff
members feel about the transformation and their respective jobs.
3. Research measure and outcome tools that can assist with tracking the success of each
NIAC domain.
4. Attend leadership meetings that discuss how each director and team will implement best
practices into their programs
5. Observe face to individual and or group supervisions to discuss supervision tools,
performance evaluations, quality of services, and documentation.
Work-hours Commitment
I, Sydney Francis will be completing a total of 120 internship hours. It will begin on
January 16th 2015 and end on April 10th 2015. I will be completing ten (10) hours per
week for twelve (12) weeks to fulfil the required 120 hours. The days and hours will be
as follows: Mondays from 2pm-5:30pm; Wednesdays 2pm-5:30pm; and Fridays 2pm5pm.

The student intern agrees to abide by ethical and professional guidelines set down by Resources
for Human Development, especially respecting confidential agency and clientele information.
We agree to abide by the terms of this contract. Any major modifications will be in writing and
agreed to by all parties.
