2 Statement of Research Question

The problem of the present study can be formulated as follows: “ To

What extent vocabulary mastery to students of TK Tat Twam Asi be

improved through teacher made English songs?”

1.3 Purpose of study

In viewing of the formulating problem, this study is designed to find

out the degrees of the effectiveness of teaching vocabulary through

teacher made English songs at TK Tat Twam Asi Jimbaran.

1.4 Limitation of The Study

The study is restricted to the teaching of English vocabulary to the

young learners especially the students of TK Tat Twam Asi Kuta

Selatan in academic 2009/2010 the vocabulary taught is limited to the

use of nouns, verbs, adjective and adverbs.

1.4 Significance of the study

The result of the study is expected to give benefit for the students,

teacher and other researcher as follows:

a. For students, the result of this study is directly intended to improve

their vocabulary through teacher made English songs.

b. For teacher, the result of this study is directly intended to provide

them with more understanding of the effectiveness of teaching

vocabulary through teacher made English songs.

c. For other researcher, hopefully this study can be used as a reference in

conducting the same for obtaining better result.

1.6 Hypothesis

Regarding to the problem stated previously the hypothesis can be

formulated as follows: the use of songs that made by teacher can

improve the students ability in vocabulary.

1.7 Definition of Key Term

There are three key term which are specially used in context of the

present study.

The three key terms are operationally defined as follows to avoid

misunderstanding and confusion

a. Teaching vocabulary through teacher made English songs is

operationally done in TK Tat Twam Asi five year student. And the

songs given were the old English kid songs rhyme but the lyric of

the songs composed by the researcher. The songs that was being

taught consists of nouns : Verbs, adjective and adverbs.

b. Young learner refers to children who have not yet started

compulsory schooling and have not yet started to read and four to

six years as a realistic average.

c. Tk Tat Twam Asi is defined as the formal school for the young

learners and a place or location where the study was and the data

collected or known as well as kindergarten. It is located in Kuta Selatan –

Jimbaran, in Badung Regency. There are five class each class consists of 35

students.
