Bennear, Lori S. "Offshore Oil and Gas Drilling: A Review of Regulatory Regimes in The
United States, United Kingdom, and Norway." Review of Environmental Economics &
Policy 9.1 (2015): 2-22. Environment Complete. Web. 16 Mar. 2015.
In this journal it gives great insight on the positive and negative effects of offshore oil
drilling regimes within the U.S. For the U.S. and the other two countries it gives the
perfect stats and information regarding the right safety procedures and measures for the
oil sites. This is relevant to my issue because the positive side is exactly what is needed to
support my argument.
Burke, C. M., W. A. Montevecchi, and F. K. Wiese. "Inadequate Environmental Monitoring
Around Offshore Oil and Gas Platforms on the Grand Bank of Eastern Canada: Are Risks
to Marine Birds Known?" Journal of environmental management 104 (2012): 1216. ProQuest. Web. 16 Mar. 2015.
This journal entry relates to the risks of the marine birds and their fatality towards the oil
platforms. The birds seem to be major factors in collisions and flares along with oil spills.
Even though this gives the negative side of domestic oil drilling platforms, there is being

work done to prevent the future mistakes. This relates to my issue because I will be using
it to balance out both sides.
Hahn, Robert, and Peter Passell. "The Economics of Allowing More U.S. Oil Drilling." Energy
Economics 32.3 (2010): 638-50.ProQuest. Web. 16 Mar. 2015.
This source simply identifies that there are major benefits to domestic oil drilling within
the U.S. The U.S. would be able to make profits and it should be allowed in certain areas
as long as procedures ae kept up for safety. This is relevant to my issue because it gives
the beneficial aspect of domestic oil drilling in the U.S.
Kral, Steve. "Americans want increased domestic oil and gas exploration." Mining Engineering
July 2008: 4. Computers & Applied Sciences Complete. Web. 7 Apr. 2015.
In this source it explains the oil exposure towards marine fouling invertebrates on the
Gulf of Mexico. It explains mainly how invertebrates on oil rigs could be good
monitoring tools to finding out how soon they can recover from oil. This helps my paper
as far as giving a more positive look towards oil drilling.
Pie, Hannah V., Andrew Heyes, and Carys L. Mitchelmore. "Investigating The Use Of Oil
Platform Marine Fouling Invertebrates As Monitors Of Oil Exposure in The Northern
Gulf Of Mexico." Science Of The Total Environment 508. (2015): 553-565. Environment
Complete. Web. 16 Mar. 2015.
This source describes the dangers of oil drilling and what it does to the wildlife within the
area in Alaska. There are various consequences when oil platforms are not maintained
right and can cause damage to the environment. This just further helps the research in my
paper explaining the negative side of oil drilling.

Woodward, D. F., et al. "Drilling Fluids and the Arctic Tundra of Alaska: Assessing
Contamination of Wetlands Habitat and the Toxicity to Aquatic Invertebrates and
Fish." Archives of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology 17.5 (1988): 68397.ProQuest. Web. 16 Mar. 2015.
In this journal the Americans want more domestic oil and gas exploration. This journal is
all about the positive aspects of why America needs to drill for oil in the U.S. because it
will decrease the dependence of foreign oil and benefit the U.S profitably. Study shows
even over half of American votes are for allowing oil drilling in the U.S. in some
restricted areas. This will aid my research paper in giving the positive side of oil drilling.
