The way that the music moves between instruments carries me to another world. The smells are incredible and I can imagine just how perfect the sun shines through the wings of the dove. The music ascends and crescendos and the doves fly higher, higher than they think they can go.

Class Piece: Symphony No. 2 Mvt. 3 by Sergei Rachmaninoff
The piece we are playing in class is beautiful! It is movement two from
Rachmaninoffs second symphony. The way that the music moves between instruments carries me to another world. When I listen to the clarinet play her solo I begin to think of an open sky with a simple white dove flying overhead. As the line progresses I imagine the dove twisting and turning softly to the turns of the music. The smells are incredible and I can imagine just how perfect the sun shines through the wings of the dove. Like the dove was carried by the rays of the setting sun. As the other instruments join in, I imagine a lady dove coming along and flying upwards towards the peak of a mountain with the other dove. The music ascends and crescendos and the doves fly higher, higher than they think they can go. As they soar upwards the music expands and finally, they reach the top. The music resolves.
