in Latin.

Procedures
Pre-Activities: Description
Time Frame
Objective(s) Targeted
Colors:
5 mins
1.1, 1.2
After playing the stand and shout game, I will
introduce colors in Latin to the students. I will
be teaching them colors such as red, white,
blue, green, purple, yellow, black, etc. Each
color will have its own color disk. I will say
the name in Latin and show the students the
color. They will have to repeat the name of the
colors. This will happen two times. After
going through the colors a couple times I will
have the students look for things in their
surrounding areas that are a specific color.
They will raise their hands and say what they
have seen. (The directions will be said in
Latin, "Invenite aliquid ______")
Warm-up:
5 mins
1.1, 1.2

At the beginning of the lesson I will have the

students either review or learn the Roman
numerals for 1-10. I will go through the cards
two times in order before mixing the cards up
and going through them another time two
times. This allows for the students to see the
numbers out of order a couple times before
moving on.
Numbers:
Students will be learning the Latin numbers 110. I will introduce the numbers to the
students by showing them the Roman numeral
and then by saying the number in Latin. I will
have the students repeat the numbers. We will
go through them a second time before
shuffling the numbers and trying them out of
order. Along the way we will be making
connections to other language, English and
Spanish with their numbers or even English
words that come from the numbers.
During activities: Description
After going over the numbers the students will
be broken down into two teams to play the
game stand and shout. Each team will have
cards with Roman numerals 1-10 on them and
I when I hold up a card, if they have the card
they have to stand up and say the card in
Latin.

Assessment (How are you assessing students throughout the lesson?)

I will be able to see where the students are at when it comes to learning the numbers in
Latin during the game. If the students are not able to say the numbers in Latin during the
game, I know that it will be necessary for me to review the numbers more.
The same is true when it comes to the colors. I can start off with holding up the colors
during the activity. Eventually it would be that I would just ask them to find something
that is a certain color in Latin and they would be able to find it without seeing the color
circle.
Differentiation (How are you meeting the needs of different learners?)
Instead of having the students stand and say the name in Latin I could reverse the game
and have them hold up the card when I say the number in Latin. It is also possible to have
the students work in pairs of two in their respective groups to help aid the students with
learning the numbers.
