TWS 10 Communications and Collaboration Plan

1. Parent Letter- I sent a parent letter to my parents during my first
week of clinical. I provided my contact information and additional
information about why I was there and what was to be expected from
my experience.
I also hand signed each one of them.
Dear Parents, Caretakers, and Guardians,
My name is Allison Lawrence. I am a senior at Lander University.
This semester, starting January 12th I will be student teaching your
bright learners for 60 days. Student teaching means I will begin
shadowing Ms. Hawthornes class, learning how students learn, and
what best fits their educational success. After the observation period, I
will begin teaching some of the lessons. Eventually, I will be your
childs teacher for 4 weeks. I am excited to learn and grow through this
experience. I have great plans that will involve lots of movement and
hands on learning. I am thrilled to be apart of this experience and to
have your wonderful children as my students this semester. If you have
any questions, please feel free to email me at
Allison.lawrence1@lander.edu.
Sincerely,

Allison Lawrence

2. Parent Letter- I sent out another parent letter letting parent know
how I was going to grade their students Science folders and notebooks.
I included a rubric of both.

Attached to the rubrics above was a parent letter explaining the

grading process of their notebooks and folders.
Dear Parents, Caretakers, and Guardians,
I will be grading your students Science notebooks and folders on
Friday, February 25th. I have attached a rubric to this letter explaining
how the notebook and folder will be scored. I have over the last 5
weeks checked their notebooks and folders for accuracy. After
reviewing the students science material, they were asked to stay in to
complete missing work or make corrections. This should be an easy
grade for them because I have talked with each one personally telling
them the items that are missing. If they are missing anything, I have
told them to tell me on Thursday, so that I can give them another copy.
If you have any questions please fill free to email me at
Allison.lawrence1@lander.edu

Sincerely,
Ms. Lawrence
3. Behavior Forms: Every day I send home the behavior form attached
below. I am able to communicate a childs behavior daily and respond
back to parents on this form. If a parent needs something that a child

Allison Lawrence
has forgotten they usually will write me a note on this form. This allows
me to have two-way communication with my parents.

1. Communication with teachers: I have communicated with fourth,

third, and second grade teachers about lesson material. I love hearing
different teachers perspective on a lesson plan or how to teach a
certain standard so that I can compare the way I would teach them to
theirs and make changes where I need to.

2. Communications with Counselor: At the beginning of the year I

talked with the counselor about how to handle bullying in my
classroom. Specifically how should a child respond if they are being
bullied and how a teacher should manage bullying in his or her
classroom.

Community Resource/involvement:
In Social Studies we have been talking about local community service
member who do work for their community. I am having a local highway
patrolman come to my class and speak with them about how he
benefits the community by doing his job.
Photo evidence, and thank you letter from a student are attached
below:
Extra Curricular Involvement:
1. I volunteered to participate in a fundraiser for the PTO. It was a
dodge ball tournament and students paid to play against their
teachers. I volunteered to play on the teachers team. This money went
to benefit the PTO.
2. I participated in Student Support Team. I sat in and spoke on
different learning style implications we could use to help a student who
was struggling in reading and mathematics. He was said to have
characteristics of attention deficit, so I suggested implementing
musical instruction to capture and maintain his attention.
3. I participated in a meeting that discussed how to use Google chrome
books. The meeting went over the basics of how to use them and also
how to implement them in the classroom.
