Asayoungchild,Iwasinfluencedbyalovingfamilythattaughtmetokeepmydreams
bigandworriessmall.Ihavealwaysbeenadreamer,thinkingaboutlivinginalargepicturesque
castlewithknightsandshiningarmor.Inmyyouth,Disneysmarvelouscreationsandthrilling
talesofadventurescaptivatedme,teachingmelessonsthroughoutfantasystorieswrittenby
himselfandotherreputableauthors.Influencedthroughliteratureandchildhoodreadings,Ihave
grownasapersonandawriter.
Iamtheyoungestchildoftwo,withagapofsixyears.Thesixyearagegapbetweenmy
oldersisterandIcertainlydoesnotaffectus.Growingup,Ialwayshadmysisterbesideme,
guidingmethroughobstaclesthatlifethrewatme.Mysisterhasbeenmyeverlastingbestfriend,
andbecauseofthat,Ihaveneverbeenlonesome.Apartfrommysisterbeingmypartnerin
crime,Ihavealwaysbeenasocialbutterfly.UnlikeOrwell,mypersonalityleadmetocreating
manyrelationshipsthus,alwayshavingafriends.Withmyvividimagination,alongwithmy
childhoodcompanions,wouldfantasizeandcreategamesinvolvingmysticalandfairytale
objectives.Suchgameshaveinfluencedmywritingbymotivatingmetoreachmyendgoalsin
producingwritingandstrivingforsuccess.
AsIcontinuedtoflourishasayoungchild,thestoriesthatmycompanionsandIwould
makeupbecameincreasinglymoredifficultandmoreintricate.Thegamesthatwecreatedasa
distractionfromtheboringandunappealingschoolaspectsofourchildhooddevelopedatthe
samerateasourbrainsmatured.
TheinitialattemptItookinwritingwasbackinkindergarteninordertoshowmy
appreciationtomymother.ItwasnothingbutacoupleofwordsthatIthrewtogetherinorderto

stultifyherthat,intheend,madenosense.Alongwithmynumerousamountofnonsense
compositionsandpoemsasachild,Icreatedamultitudeofpicturebooks.Allofmywritten
work,allwritteninSpanishbecauseIattendedabilingualimmersionschool,RiverGlen.Going
toRiverGlenhasincreasedmyabilityindecipheringthedefinitionofwordswithlatinroots.
ThedistinctiveanddiversewaysofstructuringliteratureinbothEnglishandSpanishhave
contributedtomyindividualstyleandmeansofcomposing.Mymotivesinthepresent,areto
usewhatIhavecomprehendedfromboththeEnglishandSpanishlanguageandutilizethemin
anefficientway.AlsoImustusethemechanicsIhavelearnedandapplytheminmyworkin
ordertofurthergrowasawriter.
Foramajorityofmychildhood,unlikeOrwell,Iwasinvolvedinvarioussportsand
activitiesthatdistancedmefromcreatingstoriestoavoidboredom.OneactivitythatIpartookin
andenjoyedimmenselywasdance.Althoughonewouldnotimaginedanceasafactorthat
wouldinfluencewriting,forme,itdid.Thesubtlebeatsandtherhythmicflowthatareevoked
throughthesongs,haveengagedsimplicityandanelementofsophisticationtomywriting.
Becauseofdance,mywritinghasbeenshapedandinfluencedtousesyntaxandcertaindiction
toevokeapeacefulfeelandmoodtomywriting.
IagreewithOrwellthatonecannotassessawritersmotiveswithoutknowing
somethingofhisearlydevelopment(4).Mymotivesforwritingdifferfromotherssincenotone
personsmotivesareidenticaltoothers.Althoughtheremaybesomesimilarities,motivesmay
varydependingontheirearlydevelopmentandexperiences.Myindividualmotivesare:
(i)Educationalobligations.

producesuchwritingsandliterarymasterpiecesinatimelymanner.Inatimelimitthatappeals
toteachersandotheradultswithhigherauthoritythanourselves.Wemustcontinuouslyproduce
untilallhigherauthoritiesarepleasedandwecangraduate.Thedesiretopassandpleaseiswhat
westrivefor.

themneedtobeachievedineachofmywritingsinordertopleasemyself,myteachers,orany
otherauthoritythatdemandsmywork.
