12 Rashis and Their Lords

The division of Zodiac into twelve equal parts of 30 degree of the arc is classified into signs or
Rashi. 12 Rashis forms the circle of 360 degrees and each rashi consists of two and a quarter
nakshatras.The twelve signs begins from a particular group of stars in the zodiac, which is
considered as a starting point of the zodiac cycle.
The 9 planets of the solar system starting from the Sun to Saturn have been allotted the
ownership of these rashis. These planets are Surya (Sun), Chandra (Moon), Mangal (Mars),
Budha (Mercury), Guru (Jupiter), Shukra (Venus) and Shani (Saturn). Rahu (North node of
moon) and Ketu (South node of moon). Each planet have been allotted with two rashis each,
While the Sun and the Moon own one sign each. Rahu and Ketu are generally not allotted
ownership of these signs. The names of the twelve signs, their planetary lords are given in table
below:
