4. Describe how you would Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing
Opportunity in your classroom: In my future class, I will implement this
activity as the first assignment that we will do when discovering
the planets. I would assign or each group to a certain planet and
have the students find information via the internet. At the end of
the research each group will come to the board to explain the
planets. After each group has presented we will discuss our finding
as a whole classroom. To improve this activity I will ask each group
to come up with a question to ask the class for a later discussion.
For example, the group Pluto may have a question about why is
Pluto now considered a dwarf planet. Also I will add what position
is the planet from the sun.
What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity
in a classroom? Students will need access to the internet.
Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience
(note: all of them may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you
are reaching a high LoTi Level.):
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom
and often beyond their school: Students will work in groups and I
will invite experts to review their work.
b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original
data and or producing original products as a result of engaging in the
project): Student will collect data found on the webquest and
compare it with other groups to create a huge class project.
c. Higher-order thinking: Students will need to think outside of the box,
when trying to discover ideas and answers.
d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care
about their product: After all data is found, the students will then
upload it via my blog website.
