Websites:
1. http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/scienceclips/ages/8_9/friction.shtml
This website has many different activities for different age levels from five to
eleven. Within each age group, there are six different topics to work on in
each age group. I would use this website more for having students review
topics or content areas that we have already discussed. It is very user
friendly for even the younger elementary grade levels.
2. http://www.biology4kids.com/files/cell_main.html
In this website, there are different tabs that focus on the different aspects
and parts of biology. There is cell structure, cells functions, microbes, plants,
animals, and then an assortment of different activities for students to work
on. This website is great for going into great detail about all the different
parts of biology and breaking it down. I would use this for older grade levels
because it has some advanced vocabulary throughout. It also has many
quizzes for students.
3. http://www.cosmos4kids.com/
This website focuses on the study of Astronomy and the different parts of the
universe. It highlights in bold all of the important vocabulary that students
should be learning during the time of studying the universe. When under the
solar system tabs, students are able to click on all the different planets and
learn about each one.
4. http://www.geography4kids.com/files/water_intro.html
Geography 4 Kids is a website that looks at the makeup of Earth and the
different cycles found on earth. Under each tab there are also side tabs that
students can click on to explore deeper into the content. This is a great
website for students to look at and dive into at the middle or beginning of a
unit because it gives great explanations for the geography of Earth.
5. http://www.chem4kids.com/
Chem4Kids is a spin-off of Geography4Kids, Cosmos4Kids, and Physics4Kids.
All are great for elementary students. There is a tab on this site that has the
periodic table and explains the parts of the table. Students are able to click
on different sections of the table to learn more. It goes into great detail to
teach about matter, atoms, and reactions. I would use this in my classroom
when teaching over a unit on matter. It is definitely for fifth grade and up.
6. http://www.physics4kids.com/
Physics4Kids goes into great depth for teaching students about physics. I
would use this in an elementary classroom when talking about motion, heat,
electricity, and light. This website gives great vocabulary terms and goes into
detail about each aspect of physics. Students are able to read the information

on a certain topic and then take a quiz to test their knowledge. There are also
different activities that students are able to participate in.
7. http://reekoscience.com/Experiments/MakingPlastic.aspx#.UxTkkvldVEI
This is a great website to use in science classrooms to help explain and follow
experiments. This gives multiple different experiments for students to create
to explore the world of science. It talks students through the safety policies
when doing a lab. There is also a tab on the side bar that has trivia challenge
questions that students can complete.
8. http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/kids/stories/spacescience/brain/
I love this website because it has so many different tabs for students to
explore. This would be a great site for students to go onto every once in a
while to get caught up on the science news along with taking quizzes to dig
further into content that they have learned. There are so many different
science experiments for students to try and they go into great detail during
the procedure part of the experiment while still be easy enough for students
to follow along with.
9. http://www.turtlediary.com/
This is a fantastic website for students and teachers to use from grades
Kindergarten through Third Grade. It has games, stories, biographies, and
videos for students to look at and read. However it also had many different
worksheets as resources for teachers to use in their classrooms. This website
is also very user friendly and sorts everything by age groups or grade levels.
10.http://spaceplace.nasa.gov/
This website is a part of NASA, so it is a great resource for teachers to use
when teaching units about space. There is a tab at the top that is dedicated
to parents and educators to go onto and find many different resources. A
great feature under this tab is the Next Generation Science Standards button
where you can see where content from this website will align with the Next
Generation Science Standards. For children, there are many different topics
that they can explore, do activities, and play games.
11. http://www.scholastic.com/magicschoolbus/
This is a great website to use with younger grades because it has a lot of fun
interactive games but they are pretty easy. I would use this with
Kindergarten- Second grade. When I first arrived at the site, I noticed that I
can choose the time of environment I want to explore. There are tons of
different games, TV shows, resources for parents and teachers, and they give
many different suggestions for books to use during a certain unit. This
website is very user friendly.
12.http://climatekids.nasa.gov/menu/ocean/
Climate Kids is a great user friendly website that grabs students attention.
This is a great website for informing students about what is going on around
the world in many different aspects such as climate, ocean, plants and
animals, and many more. It seems very student friendly. Incorporates many
different games and activities. There are great resources for teachers along

with students. I liked the make it tab where students can learn how to make
some of the crafts and projects listed.
13.http://kidshealth.org/kid/htbw/
The link listed above is my favorite part of the website for students. This part
of the website focuses on the biology of humans and how they work. I would
direct this website for middle to older elementary students because it
discusses many different body parts and gives the students a cartoon video
to help discuss those parts and their functions. There are many different
quizzes and articles for the students to research body parts.
14.http://urbanext.illinois.edu/gpe/gpe.html
Throughout this site, there are many different cartoon case studies for
exploring the topic of plants. It makes the learning process into a game for
the students to complete in order to learn. When exploring this site, students
are able to figure out the different parts of a plant along with how they grow
best. The site gives experiments to allow students to participate in like
planting seeds and seeing how they grow. This would be a great site for
teaching about how plants grow.
15.http://www.nourishinteractive.com/kids/healthy-games
The reason I chose this website is to help students learn about the food
pyramid and how to make healthy food choices. I would use this during a unit
that we are learning about being healthy and what the differences are in bad
food and healthy food choices. This would be great for students that are
around first through fourth grade. The games are great interactive tools for
learning.
16.http://www.earthrangers.com/wildwire/
Earth Rangers promotes ways students can help save animals that are going
extinct by providing them with rewards for earning money towards the
animals they want to help save. However, not only is it about raising money,
it is great for students in the classroom too. There are great articles and facts
for students to read up on about certain animals. The games are great at for
students to explore the environment and its inhabitants.
17.http://www.ecokids.ca/pub/games_activities/index.cfm
Students would love this website because it has many user friendly terms and
activities. This site also provides homework help where students can go to
for better explanations on certain science topics such as climate change,
forests, use of land, and much more. There are great games to reinforce
these content areas. I would use this with upper elementary grades. This site
gives great ways to help students take action in helping their environment.
18.http://www.nrdc.org/greensquad/intro/intro_1.asp
When I first arrived at this site, I didnt think that it would provide any good
information for students. That was not the case though. It provides an
example of a school and the many different factors that are bad contributors
to our environment. Students have to locate the bad environmental factors
and then the students from the site explain why these would be harmful. I
feel as if it gives students great practice at identifying harmful contributors.

19.http://www.kidsastronomy.com/
Kids Astronomy is completely designed around letting children explore the
universe around us. It would be a great website for students who are studying
astronomy. I would use from third grade on up because it is based solely
around facts. Students are able to explore the galaxies, nebulas, stars, and
black holes. It gives students great vocabulary that should be learned when
exploring this content area.
20.http://www.strangematterexhibit.com/index.html
This is my favorite website for teaching students to explore a lab that
teaches them about chemical properties and allows them to test those
properties. I even found this website interesting because students are able to
magnify, crush, transform, and improve different materials. I think students
would love to use this website in the classroom; however, I wouldnt use this
with grades under fourth. The only reason I chose fourth grade or above is
because of the content material that is involved.
21.https://student.societyforscience.org/sciencenews-students?
mode=topic&context=6
This website is a very plain sight when looking at whether it will grab
students attention or not, but it is great to use in the classroom. It gives
students great articles to inform them about science news around them. For
these articles, I think I would read them aloud in the classroom and have
students discuss as a whole group what is going on throughout the article.
This site is more geared towards the older age group if they were exploring
the site on their own.
22.http://earthquake.usgs.gov/learn/kids/
I found this website to be a great website for elementary students because it
is a very reliable source to learn about earthquakes and what happens during
one. My favorite tab to incorporate into our unit on earthquakes or other
geographical topic because it helps students to learn about earthquake
incidents in history. There are many different tabs for students to explore
pictures of real earthquakes and the science behind the earthquakes. I would
use this class in fourth grade or above.
23.http://www.edheads.org/activities/knee/swf/index.htm
I chose this as one of my simulations because it gives students a hands-on
experience in a real surgery. The doctor helps to explain the terms and what
all comes along with a real world surgery. It is definitely a simulation that is
for older students. This site is very user friendly and engaging for everyone. I
found this simulation to be one that will easily grab someones attention and
keep them focused. It is free, which is every teachers friend.
24.http://www.unitedstreaming.com/videos/dsc/externalApplications/virtual_labses/Plants/index.html
This virtual lab allows students the opportunity to grow different plants in a
lab. Through this lab, students learn about variables and how these variables
can change their outcome. Students get to experiment with these variables
to find the best way to grow their plants. This would be great to use in the

classroom because most of the time real life gardens are not available for
students to grow plants and for the time factor. I would definitely use this in
my classroom.
25.http://www.glencoe.com/sites/common_assets/science/virtual_labs/CT01/CT01
.html
This is a great virtual lab for students of all elementary grades from second
on up. The goal of this virtual lab is to help students learn about buoyancy
and different objects that are able to float. It lets students change the objects
while recording their mass and whether certain objects float in the water or
not. This would be a great lab to bring up in any science class to teach why
and how things float. This virtual lab is very student friendly and I would use
it in my classroom.
26.The app I chose to use is called A Heart Pumping Adventure.
a. http://bestappsforkids.com/2014/02/a-heart-pumping-adventure/
This app is a great app for showing students the circulatory system and how
it works. It also focuses on teaching children the vocabulary for this system
while making it very user friendly. This is definitely an app that I would use in
my classroom; except for the fact that I wouldnt use it for grades under third.
It seems to keeps students engaged throughout the story. This particular app
does cost $2.99 but it is a great tool to use in the classroom.
