Turning in Homework (must be done within the first 5 min. of class)
The student will make sure their name is on their homework. They will then place
their homework in the correct bin. If the student does not have their homework,
they will fill out a Missing Homework slip and place it in the box instead.

Borrowing Procedure (if the student does not have required materials)
The student will walk to the shared materials before class starts. They will grab
the materials they need. The student will then walk back to their desk and begin
the warm-up activity. During the exit procedure, the student will return the
materials back to the shared materials desk.
Pencil Sharpening Procedure
At an appropriate time, the student will stand up and walk directly to the pencil
sharpener. They will sharpen their pencil as quietly as possible. Then they will
walk back to their desk.
Test Taking Procedure
Before taking a test, the students will separate the desks. The student will clear off
their desk of any items that will not be used on the test. The student will then
make sure they have two sharpened pencils and any other materials they are
allowed to use on the test. The teacher will then pass out the test face down. The

students will leave the test face down until the teacher says they can start. When
the teacher says they can begin, the student will then flip the test over and quietly
work on their test. When the student is done with their test, they will quietly stand
up, turn the test in to the designated spot and then return to their desk. If there are
still other students working on their test, the student will follow the finishing early
procedure.
Finishing Early Procedure
If a student finishes there work early, they will sit quietly at their desk. They may
read a book, start their homework, or study.
Attention Procedure
To get the students attention, the teacher will raise his hand and say Focus Up.
The students will then pause what they are doing, raise their hand, and give the
teacher their undivided attention.
Finding Make-up Work
To find make-up work, the student will, at the beginning of class, look in the
folder labeled with the day they missed. They will then pull one copy of all the
papers that are in that folder. If the student has any questions about the work, they
will ask the teacher after class.
Passing Out Graded Papers
The teacher will call out the name on the paper. The student will answer when
their name is called so that the teacher can hand the papers back more efficiently.
The teacher will then place the students paper face down on their desk.
Passing Out Papers For Notes
The teacher will give a stack of papers to the beginning of each row or to each
group. The student will then take one and pass the rest to the next student. If there
are any extra copies, one student from each row or group will place them on the
shared materials desk.
Exit Procedure
The teacher will inform the students when it is time to begin the exit procedure.
The students will pick up the trash around them, return any borrowed materials,
and put the desks back to their original starting position if they were moved. The
students will then return to their seats and await further instruction. The students
will wait until the teacher dismisses them.
Tardy Procedure
The student will enter the class as quietly as possible. The student will then talk to
the teacher about why he/she was late and accept any consequences. The student
will then join the warm-up activity.
Turning in Late Work
The student will fill out a Late Work slip and attach it to the late work they
wish to turn in. The student will then follow the turning in homework procedure.
Hall Passes (for the restroom)
The student will raise their hand. When called upon, the student will ask if they
may use the restroom. If it is an acceptable time, the teacher will write a pass for
the student. Included on the pass will be the destination, the time the student left,
and the students expected return time. The student will go to the bathroom and
return as quickly as possible.

Visitor Procedure
If we have a visitor in class, the students will follow all other procedures as
normal. The students will not talk to the visitor unless the visitor begins the
conversation.
Question Asking Procedure
To ask a question, the student will raise their hands. The student will wait until
their name is called. When they are called upon, the student will ask a relevant
question. If the question is not relevant the teacher will redirect the question into
something useful.
Answering the Teachers Questions
Whenever the teacher asks a question, the students that wish to respond will raise
their hand. The teacher will select someone to answer. Only the student that was
called upon will answer.
Drills (fire, severe weather, intruder)
In the event of any drill, the students will follow the procedures and policies the
school has in place. The students will also obey the instruction the teacher tells
them.
While the Teacher is Not in the Room
If the teacher is called away from the room, the students will continue to work on
their assignments. The students are not to talk while the teacher is out of the
room. The student will not disturb other classrooms.
Becoming Ill
If a student becomes ill, that student will raise their hand. When the teacher calls
on the student, they will ask to go to the nurses office with a specific reason. The
teacher will write a pass for the student.
Becoming Ill (Emergency)
In the event that a student gets violently ill, the student will attempt to go to the
bathroom or trashcan, while trying to inform the teacher that it is an emergency.
When the student is able, they will inform the teacher of what happened
Getting into Groups
The teacher will divide the students into groups. The students will move the desks
together and get into their assigned groups. The teacher will then instruct the
students on their group work. When the teacher says they can begin, the students
will then begin working on their assignment.
Working in Groups
After the teacher gives the instructions on the group activity, the students will
actively participate in the group activity. When it is time to turn in the project, the
students will follow the turning in homework procedure.
Helping Other Students
If a student desires to help another, that student will only help those around
him/her and will discuss only the assignment.
Leaving Classroom Procedure
If a student desires to leave the classroom, the student will raise their hand. When
called upon, the student will explain where the wish to go and why. If is
acceptable for the student to leave, the teacher will write a pass with the

destination and departure time written on it. The student is to go directly to their
destination. If the student is not allowed to leave, they will accept the decision.
Announcement Procedure
When there is an announcement, the students will come to attention. They will
listen to the announcement. Once the announcement is over, the students will
return to work.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
In the case that parental conference is necessary, the teacher will call the parents
and set up a conference that is convenient for the teacher and parents. The teacher
will prepare for the meeting with notes and evidence. When the parents arrive, the
teacher will greet them at the door. The teacher will then sit down will the child
and parents and start with a positive comment about the child. The teacher will
then explain the problem and ask for the parents input. Together all parties
involved will form a plan to deal with the situation. At the end of the meeting, the
teacher will thank the parents for their help and cooperation.
Disciplinary Procedure
In the event of a disciplinary problem, the student will ask the student what rule
they have broken. For the first offence, give the student a verbal warning. If the
problem continues, give the student an appropriate consequence. If the problem
persists through multiple days, ask the student to stay after class and talk with
them about the problem. The teacher will also call the parents if necessary.

Policies
It will be my policy to send a positive communication to the parents within the
first two weeks. I will do everything I can to build a positive relationship with
students, parents, and coworkers. My classroom policies will include: no cell
phone use in the classroom, no snacks in the classroom, and students to be
prepared to learn when the bell rings. Additionally the school policies still apply.
