Mrs. Di Martinos Classroom Rules

1

Make sure that you come to class prepared.

Bring the necessary material to class: book, notebook, pencil and your completed
homework.
Be prepared to ask questions or to answer to questions regarding your assignment.
Maintain a positive attitude towards students that might need your help.
Consequences: Missed assignments will result in the reduction of ten percent, with an
extension only of an extra day. If the homework is missed again the grade will be a
zero and parents will be informed.

Maintain a respectful attitude towards your teacher, peers, school environment and
yourself.

Remember that respect is essential to ensure a safe and welcoming learning

environment. Dont forget to raise your hand if you need to ask questions. Wait for
my answer if I am engaged helping other students.
Consequences: At the first offense you will receive a verbal warning. The second will
be followed by extra time spent in the classroom after school, and the third will result
in detention in the principals office.

Always use appropriate language.

Communication with superiors and peers should always take place with the use of
appropriate language to prepare you for future situations in life as an adult.
Consequences: Use of inappropriate language will result in immediate removal from
classroom activities and visit at the principals office, after a first offense. The second
time, parents are going to be informed.

Stay engaged

Participation is vital for learning. Remember that to be alert and focused it is

necessary to maintain the right commitment with the subject matter. Be always ready

to learn and maintain an open mind by keeping yourself involved in classroom

discussion.
Consequences: Lack of participation could result in a lower grade and can influence
the outcome of group-based projects as well as the overall well-being of the
classroom community.
Rewards
Rewards will be assigned based on the overall student conduct. Meaning that after a certain
period of showing good behaviors, special prizes will be given. From homework passes to extra
free time before the end of class and special events like parties and classroom activities chosen
by the students (only if approved by me or my superiors).
Daily Routine
1

At the time of the arrival in the morning, please make sure that homework is given and
in the assigned bin for homework.

Be seated at your desk by the time the bell rings, with the book and necessary tools for
the lesson.

Check white board for Do now assignments.

All the assignments done in class must be placed in the appropriate bin, labeled In class
Work. Make sure not to confuse the bins. I will have them labeled with bright colored
signs.

Make sure that cell phones are turned off or on vibrate the entire time. No one will be
allowed to use them during class.

Make sure to pack your belongings before leaving the classroom

Check the Bring Home bin before leaving. It contains your homework assignment for
the next day.

New rules and procedures might be added or removed if necessary.
