Anticipatory Set/Hook:

The teacher will turn off the lights and show the first slide of the Jeopardy
Fraction PowerPoint Game (the first slide has sound and will get the students
engaged). The teacher will say, This is Jeopardy!

Procedure:
1. The teacher will split the class into two groups as evenly as possible. Each group

will select a name to be called and the teacher will write the names on the board
in order to calculate their scores throughout the game. Each team will select one
person to go up to the board after they answer a question correctly to write their
score. Each team will also select one person to be the speaker that answers the
questions.
2. The teacher will explain the rules of Jeopardy.
- The teacher will flip a coin in order to see which group goes first.

The first group chooses a category and amount. The larger the
amount, the harder the question.
Once the group chooses, they will work together as quietly as
possible in order to solve the question. They have one minute.
Students must say the words What is before their answer or
they forfeit their points.
If students get the answer correct, their appointed person will go up
to the board to write their points.
If the students answer incorrectly, the other group has a chance to
steal the amount. They have thirty seconds.
If the other group gets it right, they get the points and it is their turn
to choose an amount.
Repeat this procedure throughout the game.

Closure:

When the game is over, the teacher will add up the points and name the winner.
The only prize is bragging rights because learning is a gift in itself!
The teacher will pass out the Fraction Crossword Puzzle exit ticket. The teacher
will do #1 on the doc camera for clarity.
Students will complete the Fraction Crossword Puzzle exit ticket individually and
turn it in. The exit ticket will be graded.
