Henthorne, Tom. Approaching the Hunger Games Trilogy: A Literary and Cultural Analysis.
Jefferson, N.C.: McFarland & Co. Publishers, 2012.
In this book written by Henthorne, Tom I mainly focus on Chapter 4: Isnt It Pragmatic?
Intelligent Practice, Ethics and Law. Throughout this chapter it focuses on the strategies
and skills that Katniss and Peeta use in order to survive the Hunger Games and the
Quarter Quell. It also goes through the actions that Katniss and Peeta do throughout the
games and the explanation to those actions. Not only does this chapter focus on that but
focuses on how some of the main characters of The Hunger Games Trilogy go against
their moral principles and values. And last this chapter of the book focuses on how the
laws were implemented in Panem and how the government was set up.

Of Bread, Blood, and the Hunger Games: Critical Essays on the Suzanne Collins Trilogy.
Jefferson: McFarland & Company, Inc., Publishers, 2012.
In this book I concentrated on Chapter 7: Katniss Everdeens Liminal Choices and the
Foundations of Revolutionary Ethics written by Guy Andre Risko. Throughout this
chapter Risko discusses the rebellious acts that Katniss takes throughout the Hunger
Games. It also speaks not only on the ethics that the government of Panem has but on the
cruel political views.
The Hunger Games and Philosophy: A Critique of Pure Treason. Hoboken, N.J.: Wiley, 2012.
In this book I decide it to focus on Part Seven: "It Must Be Very Fragile If a Handful of
Berries Can Bring It Down": The Political Philosophy of Coriolanus Snow written by
Christina Van Dyke. Throughout this part of the book Van Dyke speaks about the
differences between the Capitol and the Districts and the completely different situations
they face every day. This section also points out the norm differences between the Capitol
and the Districts, the way rules were implemented in the Districts to the different way the
rules were implemented in the Capitol.
Collins, Suzanne. The Hunger Games. New York: Scholastic Press, 2008.
I decided it to only focus on the first book of the Hunger Games trilogy because, even
though all three books had very good examples of rebellion, I felt that I couldve
developed my essay better by using the first book. Throughout the book we get to see
different illustrations of rebellion displayed by Katniss; for example when she decorated
Rues dead body with roses to reflect her Rues purity and innocence or when Katniss and
Peeta almost eat the poison berries. Those were just some of the many rebellions acts you
get to see throughout the book.
