UN Election Observer Report

Vladimir Putin claims that he won an honest and fair election, but looking into the
election says otherwise. I've took into investigation of how Vladimir Putin came into
office. As we all known I believe when it comes to an election we have to make sure it
was fair. The elections failed to meet commitments and standards that they are
supposed to meet. There was too much on the media in favor of Putin which is unfair to
other candidates because they didnt get that strong bias. There are also many reports
of harassment of Russias opposition parties. Putin has shown so much power which is
not the good kind of power that would help Russia. The political party and the state
merged together which was a huge violation of international commitments and
standards. Also I do not think Kremlin rule should make changes because its not in
Russias best interest. This law included raising the state Duma from 5% to 7% which
would did not change anything in my opinion. This only made it hard for new and
smaller parties to develop.
Since Putin sees Russia as a managed democracy then we can all see that
this was a managed election. Also in 2003 there were 1,163 observers invited to
Russias last parliamentary vote, and now there were only 300 invited. I see this as if
Putin is trying to hide something because less and less people were invited to observe.
Elections took place where there was limited political competition which is another
reason why this election wasnt fair. Through the realization of fraud there was no
surprise that Putin had won the election. There were also carousel voters going from
polling site to polling site to cast votes for Putin. This is totally unfair to the citizens of
Russia. Every citizen depending of whoever they are should only be allowed to vote
once. Who knows how much people went around all day casting votes? Proving fraud is
sometimes difficult, but proving other things took place have been done.
We have taken results from over 2,150 polling sites to try to find more fraud. How
are Russian citizens suppose to look up to a leader if it wasnt fair how he became
president. Also in the election in 2008 Putin found a way around the law which would
prevent him from running for president. Putin picked out Dmitry Medvedev as his
successor which Putin was basically using him to become liked. After Medvedev won he
picked Putin as his prime minister , and Putin just act like he had all of the power. Today
since he is the president I think before he tried to find ways to get around it only to
obtain more power. Putin is obtaining all of the power which makes Russia the farthest
away from a democracy. A democracy means fair elections, and that's not what Russia
has been experiencing. We need to take into consideration of the laws Putin has broken
to make things fair as they should be. Hopefully the next election wont be like the
recent elections because Russia needs change.Obtaining Power should not the most
important thing
