A Racist Act
The definition of tyranny is a nation under a cruel and oppressive government or rule. To
put this word in a simpler way in which we can all relate, it can also mean cruel, or oppressive
abuse of use of ones own power or control. Everywhere around the world we had many historic
incidents in which tyranny took place. From tyranny came something called genocide which is
the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular ethnic group or
nation. Genocide is as serious as it sounds, perhaps much more when put into action. Historic
incidents such as the Holocaust, or the Hutus and Tutsis in Rwanda.
The holocaust is one of the most well-known genocide incidents experienced in history.
Hitler being the new ruler of Germany abused his power turning most of Germany against their
own kind, the jews. Most of Germany believed through Hitlers words that jews were the evil in
the world and the cause of their own downfall during the first war. Because jews were
discriminated as such, they were forced into concentration camps working hard labor in very
harsh conditions. Many jews were killed and burned even with no wrongdoings. Just as in the
Rwandan genocide, one of the most recent case of genocide. This genocide was planned by
members of their political party known as the Akazu against the Tutsis for manslaughter.
Genocide is just a form of tyranny. And though the world had numerous cases of genocide,
there is still genocide committed today. They say that youre supposed to learn from history but
it seems that some people never learn.
Sadly, today there is genocide continuing in Darfur in which is a region in Sudan.
Genocide today is worser than ever because we still have not learned from everyones history
that it is wrong. Genocide may not be ceased and racism also can not be stopped. But we can
prevent it from growing worse. Genocide is a serious issue and I would also not for others go
through the hell that others went through to teach them about how wrong it is. Just as there is
prejudice against genders, same-sex interrelations, race, we are all the same as one. Though
despite our differences in appearance, language, culture, religion, body features, we are all
human. We could put aside our differences and welcome the change that we are the same
inside and out. Though it may be often said, hate is such a strong word, how could it make our
world any better? How could killing one another off, make anything in the world better?
The only thing in our way is when human beings can not learn from right and wrong, are
not accepting, and do not learn from the past. This is not a message to just those who have a
problem accepting other cultures but for those who see it, experience it, and those who want to
prevent it. Everyone needs to learn to accept, not for others but also for themselves.
Acknowledge that everyone is different and accept it. Challenge irrationality and learn from
others. There are things called exchange programs where you can go out in the world and learn
about different cultures and learn to value one another. I went on an exchange to Okinawa and I
was able to learn from a new culture and about the things they value. When I was able to study
abroad, not only did I get to learn many new things, the most important part is that I was able to
learn more about myself also. Opening and widening your horizons is not so bad, and it never
was and never will be. Today, society has grown very mature and accepting the right to equality
for everyone from how naive we were once to the world. Will you help or keep us from growing
and developing?
