Halo Dragons

Halo Dragons & General Knowledge...

What is a Halo Dragon?
It is considered an ancient creature, not overly known to the world, and a protector of the angelic worlds from threats against demons and other invaders.
This creature is often a dark white or very light grey coloration, with varying colors to make up
its scales. Part of what makes it a wonderful representation of angels is this pure, innocent look
about it for being a dragon. Its tail ends in a fin, or in the case of a female, two fins, and a feather growing out of his head, which gives the dragon its name. Horns and spikes can differ between individuals.
(Some have less; some have more. Some alternate. It just wholly depends on the individual dragon.)
Another differentiation between these dragons is the colors of the eyes, feather, and aura (generally all end up being the same color). Halo Dragons colors can be blue, green, purple, pink, silver, or
gold. Only in very rare cases will the dragons genes have a mutation and the aura can turn out being a
different color than its feather or eyes.
Males vs. Females: There are differences between male and female Halo Dragons, most notably
in the tail. A female has two fins, while a male has one. This aids in extra warmth for the eggs. She will
also not have dorsal spikes or chin horns. (These spikes/horns do nothing for protection; theyre more
for appearance.)
Elder Dragons: A Halo Dragon that survives passed its 100th Year is considered an Elder. These
Elders are an uncommon sight, as most dragons do not live longer than
their 80th Year.
Adolescent Dragons: Adolescence lasts from a young
dragons 10th through 25th Year. Maturity begins around
its 12th Year and ends around its 20th Year. During
this time, a young dragon will begin to learn
flight and further develop the coloration of its
aura.
Aging: There are two ways to measure
age of a dragonin Years and Seasons. Much like a
dogs years is multiplied by seven, a dragons years
is multiplied by four (the number of seasons per
year). This gives the impression that the dragon is
much older than it really is.

Halo Dragons & Breeding.........

A Halo Dragon hatches from an egg that is light gray in color, with varying colors of
specs on the outer eggshell (which typically reveal the dragons aura).
Upon breeding season, a dragon that is at least 28 Years is
mature enough to breed. First-time breeders go through a ritual for
their life mate, as Halo Dragons are monogamous and have only
one partner for their life. (And if their partner dies, they often do not
choose another, unless for the purpose of providing a descendent.) Females initiate the ritual, searching for the male based on his appearance and status within the clan, and the
males are responsible for showing his worth to the females because he doesnt want to end the ritual
alone for another year.
Halo Dragons have the opportunity to opt out of breeding if they choose, and opt in when
they desire. This choice is most common with Alphas, as they do not mate every season and only when
an heir has not yet been achieved. Most Alphas mate until a male heir is hatched, or if their heir is killed
before he ascends in the clan. (Please see Halo Dragon Hierarchy.)
Once a female has mated, she leaves her post for two months to the warm climate of the Earth
District where the clan has established a Roost, or Nursery, for egg incubation. The females carry the
eggs for those two months and then lay a nest of 1-2 eggs. Once the eggs are laid, they return to their
post for the following four months while Nannies care for the Roost. These Nannies are usually females that choose for opt out of breeding for the good of the clan and raise the chicks.
After those six months, around the beginning of summer, the chicks hatch and the females are
present for imprinting, a mental process which allows the chicks to recognize a face as one they can
trust. A Nanny is given the chance to be imprinted upon, as she will raise the chick in its mothers absence. (Every dragon has a mother and Nanny.) Chicks will use this bond for the first few years of its
life, and often referring to its Nanny for guidance.
Facts:
1. A baby dragon is a chick. It could also be called a hatchling.
2. Halo Dragons have a nest of two eggs because about 50% of their eggs will not hatch.
3. A Halo Dragon chick is generally darker in color, but lightens out with age. It is also about the size of a medium-sized dog.

Halo Dragons & Appearance...

Here are a few common appearances of a Halo Dragon. First example is the only known colors a Halo
Dragons aura, eyes, and feather can be seen. Of these six combinations, the most uncommon is the silver aura. This dragon appears too dull, which can deter potential mates.

The second example is the aura being different from the eye and feather colors. This is extremely rare,
but can happen if theres a mutation in the dragons genetic code, and generally in dragons born with a
certain eye color such as silver. It does nothing to harm the dragon; just makes it look different.

Halo Dragons

Halo Dragons & Its Aura..

Every Halo Dragon is born with an aura, which is basically a visual representation of the individual. It
can tell how healthy the dragon is, its general demeanor, and in males, it can help woo a female (the
more colorful the male, the more attractive he is to the female eye).
Often enough the aura will match the dragons eye and feather colors, but occasionally, in silver-eyed dragons, the aura will be different. These dragons are very rare to come across and in dragon
hierarchy, considered untrustworthy. But other than a slight mutation in its gene, the dragon is just like
the rest. The mutation does nothing but alter its appearance.

Halo Dragons & Warrior Status

A Halo Dragon is not born a warrior. It has to train how to fight, which can take years to complete.
When the young dragon is 3 Years or 12 Seasons Old, it is moved from the Nursery to Sanctuary until it
is 25 Years, the official cutoff for adolescent dragons. From 3 Years to 10 Years, its intelligence is tested.
From 10 Years to 25 Years, physical training is introduced, such as fighting and flight.
Moving on up to Warrior Status requires testing. Young dragons perform for the Elders and
Warriors, proving their worth. Most all young dragons are accepted.
Ranking and responsibility is based off skill. Halo Dragons are divided into career groups, including tasks such as patrol, scouting, guarding of the Nursery or Sanctuary, Nannying, teaching, and
inter-dimensional travels.
Elders are generally leaders within each career group.
Halo Dragons are exceptional flyers and warriors, but unlike their Blood Dragon cousins, they
do not have venom. And unlike most dragons, they do not have fire. Instead they are trained heavily in
aerial combat and mind, having to rely on their intelligence to survive another day against the opposing
forces strength.

Halo Dragons

Halo Dragon Hierarchy...

As with most group-dwellers, Halo Dragons have a ranking system, or hierarchy. First, ranking with the
most power in the clan, is the Alpha. In the clan, he is generally not an elected leader, but born into
ranking. He has a sort of gift that allows him to communicate among othersnot just dragons. An
Alpha often ascends into the position one of two ways:
1) his Sire/Father allows him his right or is killed in battle; or
2) he challenges a previous Alpha and wins. More often than not, he is given his right by the Alpha.
Second are the Elders, whom are at least 100 Years.
Third are the Warriors, the protectors of the angelic world, the clan, and most of everywhere
else. Without them, chaos would ensue everywhere. Many Elders continue as Warriors, are thus leaders of this grouping. They out-rank other younger dragons.
Fourth are the Nannies, as they care for and protect the chicks.
And fifth are the chicks, adolescents, and other young dragons not old enough to be of Warrior
status, and thus, on the bottom of the ranking system.
Within each grouping, there are always smaller systems of rank putting one dragon ahead of
the other. All dragons respect each other and rarely disagree to ranking. They live in and represent
harmony and peace.

Halo Dragons & Death

A Halo Dragon is much like a tankits sturdy, strong, durable, and pretty damn near-impossible to
shoot down. But nothing is indestructible. Even a tank can blow up, drive down into a ditch, or just
simply stop working. Thats essentially what a Halo Dragon is.
Like dragons in general, a Halo Dragon is semi-immortal, meaning it has a longer than usual
lifespan, but its not forever. One of these dragons can live for 500 Years, or 2,000 Seasons, and even
some can extend farther than that if theyre in immaculate condition and not fending off attacks by the
rival Blood Dragon clans. Considering that they are a Paranormal and angelic beast, Halo Dragons are
one of two disease-immune kinds of dragon (of course right next to their cousins, the Blood Dragons).
They cannot get sick or die from illness. They can, however, die in other ways.
Death One: A Halo Dragon will die of old age. Often by then, it has earned a place of respect
among its clan as not many are able to live long lives. Death is welcomed.
Death Two: A Halo Dragon will die in combat. This is the most common way one of these dragons will die. They are raised, trained, and given a purpose as a warrior. Death is welcomed.
Death Three: A Halo Dragon will die when intoxicated with Blood Dragon venom. This venom
is poisonous to any Paranormal, but highly fast-acting when entering the veins of a Halo Dragon. Death
is gruesome and painful. The venom shuts down the nervous system, paralyzing its victim. There is a
chemical in the venom that attacks
either act as a modifying agent
and if the genetic code is althen it attacks and kills.

Death can occur within five

minutes of a bite.

Once a dragon is dying, its aura

will begin to fade away until its completely gone. Its a
sign of life and health to a Halo Dragon. Even if a dragon suffers from lifelong battle injuries, its aura
will fade slightly as indication that its no longer 100% healthy as a warrior. Typically, a Halo Dragon
will fight until its last day, regardless of its wounds.
