Reflection:

A. How did you go about drawing this image? (Did you plan? Did you use patterns,
reflections of curves? Did you experiment? Did you consult with peers/teacher?)
When I first started this project I had no idea what to make, but then I
realized since I am a big fan of a TV show called Arrow I could make a bow and arrow. This line
also came to me when I was playing around with linear functions and I thought the line that I
created would be perfect for a bow and arrow and that it would look really sweet on desmos and
a product I would be proud of. Then I added a bear paw so that the arrow from the bow would
be shooting into something and I thought this would spice up the image more and they related in
a way. I felt proud of my design after the project and thought this was a fun and creative way to
learn all the different types of functions and still do something enjoyable.

B.

How did using Desmos and creating this drawing help you understand function

families and their transformations?

Desmos was a very helpful tool to use for a project like this because it provided
lots of helpful tools and resources to create something awesome. With that said it really helped
me get a good feel for all the different function families because I really had no idea what any of
these were walking into this project besides the linear function. I knew a little bit about linear
functions coming into the project but I wasn't very good at graphing them and I felt like desmos
showed me how to graph them better after seeing the equations graphed for me. Square root
functions were quite interesting to me as well because I wouldn't have thought about using that
function until Caitlyn recommended it to me. I really liked the square root function for this project
especially because it made the bow and that was a key piece to the drawing. Desmos was a
really neat program to me that I progressively better with throughout and it gave me a better
understanding of all the different function families and how to graph them.
