Another issue that is closely linked to the attainment of quality, effectiveness


and efficiency is the importance of recognition by all concerned to give the
teaching profession its appropriate and respectful plae in the society. It is
very dismaying to notice that the days that the teacher was a respected
member of a soceity have gone into history. Qualified and experienced
teachers are constantly looking for other better-paying jobs. The bitter fact is
that most are not proud of their profession. We cannot think of improving
educational quality if most of our teachers are disinterested in their jobs. I
personally am very much scared when I notice that graduating students in
teacher education program are not keen enough to be teachers and would
rather get other jobs. In addition to creating good working environments for
teachers that gives[sic] them a feeling of satisfaction and that makes[sic] them
believe that they are somehow contributing to the development of their
country, making teaching a better-paying profession is a point that should not

be overlooked. Investing in the future of our country is best achieved


by investing in the education of the young generation.
Introducing and maintaining quality, thus, requires a multi-faceted
approach. This will definitely, make education more expensive for the user or
the provider or for both. I remember a poster I read sometimes ago. IF
YOU THINK EDUCATION IS EXPENSIVE, TRY IGNORANCE. I
