The Glory Lily is truly glorious as it produces eye-catching,multicoloured and uniquely

structured flowers which remain on the plant for at least 7 days.These flowers which are
large,axillary or solitary have long extrose filaments which are nearly 13 mm long.The
petals or perianth of the flowers have wavy margins and the colors from the tips progress
to the base,from green onto yellow pasing through orange and scarlet to crimson.The
plantis a herbaceous annual climber.The rootstock is solid,fleshy-yellow,cylindric tubers
which are 15 to 30 cm long and pointed at each end.The stem is about 3 to 6 metres long
bearing parallel veined,stalkless leaves which are placed opposite to each other.The tips
of the leaves behave like tendrils,clinging on to neighbouring plants or other objects.
MEDICINAL USE:
For the expulsion of worms from the body.
As a laxative and as an agent to promotes labor pain or to bring about abortion.
Chronic ulcers,leprosy,inflammation,piles,abdominal pain and itching.
Gives tone and vitality to the body.
For the removal of mucous secretion from the bronchial tubes.
For neuralgic pains and skin troubles.
HOW TO USE:
The decoction of the tuber is useful to take care of the first 5 problems under Medicinal
use.
The tubers are crushed and used externally for neuralgic pains and skin troubles.
PARTS USED:
The underground tubers.
DOSE:
Normal or as indicated above.
CAUTION:
Large doses of the decoction of the tuber should be avoided as the tuber is intensely
poisonous.
