4th Marking Period

Project Based Learning (PBL)


Game Developer & Website
This marking periods PBL will entail you becoming a potential video game developer and
reviewer. Your video game will be developed according to the guidelines you see below and what
you have learned in Social Studies. BE CREATIVE IN ALL PARTS!!!
You are a computer game developer who has been commissioned to design a video game based on
the Middle Ages. Think game examples like King Arthur, Game of Thrones, Dragon Age,
etc. these all take place during the Medieval European Age.
The due dates are as follows:
1. 1. A Medieval character will be assigned to you. This will be a major character for the
game you create.
Due: Friday, May 15th
2. 2. Plan & research the game concept such as, general information about the game,
background story, objective, levels, settings, characters, enemies, weapons, pick-up
items, etc. (graphic organizer).
Due: Friday, May 22nd
3. Rough draft of game description
Due: Friday, May 29th
4. Design the video game cover neatly, in color. This includes the front, back, & spine. An
outline template of a blank game cover will be provided. Tracing is allowed. Students may
submit their cover design in an empty video game or DVD case (but not required). See
teachers examples in class.
Due: Friday, June 5th
5. Final draft of game description on the website, and put it all together.
Due: Friday, June 5th
**EXTRA CREDIT** How does your game look? Design, sketch, and draw 1-4 screenshots of your
game. A screenshot is a snapshot of the gameplay.
Due: Friday June 5th
***PRESENTATIONS*** of your video games will happen during the week of June 8th. The
presentation grade will be a separate grade and will not be a part of the PBL. Your class will vote
for the overall best game, best game cover, best game title, and most unique game. The voting
will not impact anyones grade.

20% of your grade for both LAL & SS!
