QUARTER 3 Comments

This quarter, students have increased reading, writing, listening and speaking skills through
activities related to a variety of topics. They finished reading the novel The Boy in the Striped
Pyjamas which helped to develop their reading as well as writing skills as students were
required to produce a variety of written responses. These reflective writing pieces
demonstrated insight and understanding of the text. Students also learned literary terms
such as simile, metaphor and hyperbole through the creation of poetry iBooks. Support for
Science and Social Studies classes was also provided through review sessions tests and
guidance in completing major essays.
Student has continued to work hard and complete work to a high standard. His spoken English is
excellent and his listening skills have improved to a level at which he rarely needs instructions
repeated. He is becoming a more proficient reader, but he should be encouraged to read novels at
home for pleasure. When Student writes, he is very focused but he still makes spelling and
grammatical mistakes, and so should be encouraged to reread his work and have a teacher proofread
major assignments before handing in a final copy. I continue to be impressed with Students
dedication to his schoolwork, and he should be proud of all he has accomplished so far this year.
