Asyoumayseehere,dependingonthecommunitythatastudentlivesisonecontribution
totheamountoflocalfundingthattheschoolgetsaroundthatneighborhood,becauseitis
basedonthevalueofthepropertiesinthatneighborhood.Thisentitlestostudents
particularlyoflowincomehavefeweraccesstohighereducationbecausetheschoolsthey
attendareunfundedwherestudentofmajoritiesareoverlyfunded.Thisfallsdowntothe
schoolsarehavestudentsthatareinthemostneedforresourcesaretheschoolsthat

havefewfunds.
Moststateprogramsdotrytocompensateforthelowerlocalfundingbygivingmorestate
funding.However,asshowninthegraph,manystatesstillfailtoprovideprogressiveor
equalschoolfunding.Thismeansthatalthough,thehighpovertyschoolsdogethelpinthe
longrunitisntenough.Theystillendupreceivinglessfundingthanschoolsinareaswith
lowerpovertyratesandhigherwealth.

Theseschoolsfundsnotonlycomefromthepropertytaxes(howmuchthecitycontributes
topayingtaxes)butalsofederaltaxesandstatetaxes.

highpovertyschoolshavelimitedtonoresourcesinwhichmakethemstruggletoget
academicsuccess.Mostofthesehighpovertyschoolshavealowergraduationrateoverall
affectingtheirfuture.
