Lookingbackonthestudentteachingexperienceandreflectingonsomeofthethings
thatIneedimprovementon,Iwouldstartwithmyclassroommanagement.Ihavea
tendencytoletstudenthavesmalltalkwhileImreviewingmaterialthatisinalectureor
thatwillbeneededduringlab.Ineedtoimproveonmyskilltomutethoseindividualsso
thatotherstudentshavethebestchancepossibletobesuccessfulinmyclass.
Havingjustdealtwithinformalassessmentthroughlabevaluationsandgoogledocs,I
needtoimproveonmytraditionalassessmentskillsforfutureimprovementaswell.
Improvementcouldbemadewithclarifying,aligningandassessingstudentthrough
moreformaltestsandquizzesweredirectstudentlearningcanbeevaluated.
Ialsoneedtoimprovemyclarificationskillswhenexplaininginclassworksheetsor
activitiessothatallstudentunderstandtheobjectivesandwhattheoverallpurposeis.I
haveatendencytoprovidedetailinformationthatistaylortoliteracylearnersandfind
myselfusingmyverbalabilitytoclarifyforindividualstudentswholearnthrough
differentstyles.

Glows:
TheareasthroughoutmystudentteachingexperiencewhereIexcelledwerein
studentsrelationships,organization,lessonpreparation,overallpreparationand
professionalism,collaborationandschoolinvolvement.
Numerousstudentshavevocallyexpressedthattheyfeelasafeenvironmentwhenthey
wereinsidemyclassroomandfeltanenergyforlearning.Therelationshipsand
studentsimprovementthatwerefosteredduringmystudentteachingexperiencejust
confirmedthatIwanttoworkwiththeyouth,inateachertostudentorcoachtoplayer
realm.
Theabilitytojustfocusonlessonandunitpreparationimprovedmyorganizationand
preparationskillthroughoutthesemester.Istartedbyhavingtoworkonlessonplans
fortwoorthreehours,andbytheendofthesemesterIwasabletocompletealesson
in3045mins.Thiswasalsomyfirstexperienceplanningandaligningmultipleclasses
foranentiresemester,whichimprovedmyabilityplaninthefutureandforesee
potentialproblemsthatmayoccurduringthesemester.
Thissemestergavemethechancetonetworkthroughprofessionalconferences,school
associatedorganizations,activities,andtechnologypilotgroupsthatworkedwithdistrict
administration.

DoDifferently:
SomeofthethingIwoulddodifferentlyareintheinstructionalrealm.Iwouldhave
incorporatedmoretechnologyduringmylessonsandtrieddifferentactivitiesthat

involvedmorelearningstyles.Theroomdidntoffermetheabilitytogetkidsupand
activeasmuchasIwouldlike,besideswhenstudentswereinculinarylabs.
Iwouldhavealsoliketohavemoretimewithjustmyselfinsidetheclassroomwithout
thematchupteacher,sothatmyteachingstylewouldhavehadmoreofastamponthe
outcomeofstudentlearning.Iwouldhavelikedtohadtheopportunitytotakeovera
classwithoutbeingintroducedasthestudentteacherandhavemyteachingstylebe
implementedfromthebeginningofthesemester.
