All the main white characters are never shown struggling with their
financial situations. Meanwhile, many (but notably, not all) of the
minority characters are portrayed as destitute or powerless socially.

Most of the characters are provided life circumstances to help us see where
they are coming from (4) ... Each serves as an excuse for the characters
racism (or at least a way to lessen its severity). He continues, but those
life circumstances are themselves most often made up of the cheap
rationalizations for racism.
Crash presents many races and their intersections, but the white characters
appear to be less complex, and ultimately more forgivable, than the other
races

A misunderstanding of actions based on Hansens inner prejudice leads to

Peters death. Their interaction shines light on how Hansen has his own
racial prejudices despite being against Officer Ryans actions
Freds direction to Cameron to reshoot the scene based on an actor needing
to be more black is offensive and should not have been tolerated. Cameron
must listen to Fred because his job is on the line, and must tolerate
Freds ignorance in thinking he is justified in his comments. These power
dynamics show how racism has become institutionally integrated, acting as
part of the base of white privilege.
The unrealistic resolutions of many conflicts between characters in the
movie demonstrate how, from a production side, white privilege is
systematically present in our culture. For example, Officer Ryan redeems
himself by saving Christine from the car accident. While this situation is
inherently plausible in the real world, it is the notion that a man as
despicable as Officer Ryan redeems his racist actions by simply doing his
duty as a police officer that sends the wrong message to viewers. It shows
that visible acts of kindness can overcome the unfathomable depth of racial
injustice inflicted on nonwhite races.
