Becoming an Engineer
What they do

Aerospace engineers design and develop different types of aircrafts. They have to
make sure they are safe and meet customer requirements. They can specialize in
different types of aeronautical engineering such as military aircrafts and spacecrafts.

Work
Environment

Aerospace engineers spend more of their time in offices using computers and
softwares to model and simulate designs. They work with other professionals and
must be able to have good communication skills and work well with others. They
usually work for firms that engage in design, research, development, etc.

How to become
one

Aerospace engineers must have at least a bachelors degree or work in a field of

science or engineering. High school students should take chemistry, physics, and
math if interested in aerospace. Some important qualities are analytical skills,
business skills, critical-thinking skills, and math and writing skills.

The demand for my engineering field compared to chemical and electrical and electronics engineering, is a
lot more because though it has good pay and you get to work in a group, it still requires the right
mathematical skills and a lot of calculating which can be very difficult. it also deals with many different types
of aircrafts and different jobs, but a lot of them are military related. Chemical and electrical and electronics
engineering do provide many jobs in many different locations as well and dont require on-the-job training,
but they do have to be good at physics, biology, chemistry, and math. Petroleum engineering is the highest
in demand because oil is running out.

Comparing Salaries by Location

The salary changes by years of experience because the more you know, the more you can do. when you
have a lot of experience, you are more confident, more professional, more comfortable about the
environment. Its less expensive in Houston because Los Angeles has a lot of buildings, people, and jobs
that are available. As for Houston; its not as large of a city as LA is and doesnt have many available jobs.
The cost of living is very expensive in LA, however they do have great engineering schools.
