To whom it may concern,

It is with pleasure and enthusiasm that I write this letter of
recommendation for Katlyn Powell.
She will be graduating from
Chaminade University in May 2015.
I have been teaching in the Hawaii Department of Education for 25
years, and Katlyn is doing her student teaching in my classroom of twentyfour second graders at Kanoelani Elementary School.
Prior to her student teaching, Katlyn did her Observation and
Participation in my class last semester. She was always punctual and
assisted with tutoring. Many times she would take the initiative to
complete tasks for the teacher. It came naturally for her to continue her
student teaching in my classroom.
The most admirable quality of Katlyn is her sunny disposition and
calm demeanor. She teaches math and reading with knowledge and
confidence. She is proficient in the use of technology in the classroom,
using the Promethean board effectively for teaching Reading Wonders
and Go Math! Katlyn also does the bulk of the work in terms of correcting
student work, recording grades, planning lessons, and communicating
with parents via weekly reflections, student planner, or in person.
Katlyn is a well-rounded individual. She is a collegiate athlete at
Chaminade and enjoys playing soccer. She also worked with students in
Grades 5 and 6 at an afterschool program at Kanoelani. She is interested
in teaching all subjects and believes in lifelong learners.
