1. Rationale: Why is this lesson relevant at this time with these students?
The last socials unit I taught involved learning about different communities and how a good community is able to
provide our 3 basic needs in order to survive plus education and healthcare to grow and develop. Learning how a
community is regulated is a natural progression and students will learn about how changes come about in a
community and what essentials services we receive.

After the vote have a discussion about why not
many people choose to vote even though its such a
big deal. Ask students if they will vote when they are
