Awareness for The Many

In Todays society you see electricity being used almost everywhere. Many have become
extremely dependent on technology. Many do not know how the energy they are consuming is
produced. Many people are unaware of the consequences that are coming from producing this
power the world needs. Throughout the last few decades there have been severe problems
arising by using fossils fuels and nuclear energy. These problems not only effect humans, but are
damaging our ecosystem. They pollute our oceans affecting those who depend on them
financially or live along the coast and harming marine life by poisoning their habit. The effects
of radiation mutate cells and can cause birth defects harming all life exposed to it. It also is
deadly to be exposed to, making places that are exposed to radiation unlivable by humans for
1000s of years. Human are the dominate species on the planet. We see ourselves as superior to
all other life. Then it should be clear that we are responsible for the damaging and destroying the
ecosystem The U.S. energy boom resulted in 7.4 million acres of lost vegetation in the Midwest
from 2000 to 2013, a new study from the University of Montana says. Thats similar to losing
about 120 million bushels of wheat, about half the federal land available for grazing, or
Yellowstone National Park three times over (Neuhauser, Alex). Even if you have not been to
Yellowstone Park, the big number is 11,562 square miles of land that has been destroyed to
collect natural gases and oil in the U.S in just the last 10 years. Not many are aware of that.
Some people are affected by the pollution in the air and have breathing problems, but do go to
the source they go to the doctors to solve the problem. Many folks blame the energy producers
and point the finger, yet the people are the ones keeping the companies in business. They
continue to consumer energy and drive their gas guzzling automobiles. They continue on not
making the effort to better the world and just blame society.

Landscape changes from well pads and roads.

There is already a movement to clean energy and in the last decade there has been major
improvement in technology to maximize clean energy produce. Wind power is now the world's
fastest growing energy source (Vanamali, Anmol). With growth of awareness people can
invest and help contribute to the change on how their energy is produced. People need to be
shown more of the negatives and the preventable consequences that are occurring with the use of
energy produced by fossil fuels. If there are more people aware and the companies that produce
clean/non-polluting, you will see an even greater growth in the wind and solar farms. There are
already irreversible effects caused where there is no going back, but people can stop these
problems. The idea of clean energy powered world is not that unbelievable. It is very possible,
but will need the many to be on board, supporting clean energy.
