Hamlet: Alter Tone Rough Draft
In Act 4, Scene 5, lines 26-175, the tone of the passage is somewhat of a mix
of solemn, morose, whimsical, callous, and furious. In this scene Ophelia is going
crazy because her father had died, and it hit her so fast that the tone of the passage
start out somewhat of solemn and as we continued it seems that it started to be
more morose and somewhat whimsical. And at the end of the passage it seems like
the tone changes from a solemn tone to a furious tone at the end because of
Laertes being anger at King Claudius for murdering his father but realize that it
wasnt him because he was innocent of kill Polonius. Some words that created the
tones in this passage were words that expressed how Ophelia felt about her fathers
death and Laertes being enraged that his father was murdered by the King,
Damantion, life-rend ring pelican, cuckold, cockle hat, and muddied. These word
express the tones of the passage because they give us a understand what going on
in this scene and how its affecting Ophelia, Laertes, King Claudius, and Gertrude.
The intend tone of the revised tone for my passage is cold, amused, and
childish. The reason why I had chosen this tone is because these tones can express
a lot about each character and how it could change their mindset. The re-write
intend tone is cold, amused, and childish because this could show certain things
inside of each characters thoughts and what each intend character has inside of
their mindset that is drilled in.
Once upon a time, in Demark, where the grass grew, where it was at sea
level, and where the King palace was and something was going that could turn big.

King Claudius and Gertrude are in the castle where Ophelia has gone into a
depression and is breaking down because the death of her father. Now as she sings
with a cold depressing melody, the King ask his wife how long has been like this,
and Ophelia responds I hope all will be well. We must be patient, but I cannot
choose but weep to think they would lay him I th cold ground. King Claudius think
him to himself, like what has Hamlet done to kill my advisor, that I trusted, and
cause this much pain for Ophelia, poor girl. Then King Claudius is like Where is my
Switzers? Let them guard at the door. And Gertrude is think that its a riot that are
going to destroy this monarchy and demand something from Claudius, my husband.
And then Laertes bust in with his followers and they demand that he should be king
instead of Claudius. And King Claudius was laughing at Laertes because he want to
be king and that would never happen, and Laertes say that childish and its a
possible that he would king one day in this kingdom. As that was happening Laertes
demand his father and asked where he was. O, thou vile king, Give me my father!
And Claudius respond in a depressing way and say that his father is dead and
Laertes start to break down into tears and was crying so hard that he couldnt
believe that his father is dead.
