Boolean Operators: are terms that help you limit your search specifically.
Sentence: To make my search easier, I used Boolean operators to narrow it.
Examples: and, or, and not.

Card Reader: transfers data from a memory card to the computer.
Sentence: Your computer needs a card reader

Digital Commerce: the selling and buying of goods via the internet.
Sentence: I use digital commerce at home to buy things because I dont have a car to drive and
my mom is always busy.
Example: Amazon is a digital commerce site.

Encryption: the process of hiding information so that it couldnt be understood without a key.
Sentence: Caroline needed to send a file to Stefan so that he could break the encryption.

File Sharing: giving access to digitally store information on websites.


Sentence: We use file sharing by storing our information on the cloud.

Gateway: a point where a network connects with another network.
Sentence: a gateway is needed so that other networks could interact together.

Sentence: all computers have hard disk drives to save you work on.

Sentence: We need Internet Service Provider to be able to do homework at home.

JPG: the most common type of compressed image file format.
Sentence: Always save pictures as a jpg in order to open them on any computer.
Examples:

Kilobytes: is equal to 1,024 bytes.
Sentence: Kilobytes are relatively lower than megabytes.

Sentence: I need to add Links in my digital portfolio for references.

Malware: a virus sent to disrupt a computers regular operations.
Sentence: A malware was on my computer because I clicked on fake website in my email.
Examples: Bug, Rootkit.

Network: the connection of two or more computers so that resources can be shared.
Sentence: The network connection at my house is slow because all the resources are being used
at once.
Examples: Boost Wireless Network

Operating System (OS): is the software that manages all the computer's processes and allows
programs and applications to run.
Sentence: Every computer needs an operating system to work and have applications.
Examples: Windows Vista, Mac OS X

Peripheral Device: enhances the function of a computer system.

Sentence: a mouse is a peripheral device because it makes browsing easier and stops you from
using the keyboard.
Examples: keyboard, Mouse, Monitor

Q.
QWERTY: the layout of the English language typewriter.
Sentence: The QWERTY calculator is the most advance of them all.
Example: Graphing Calculator

R.
Read Only Memory: file that contains information that cannot be deleted, or changed.
Sentence: Once you save a document to the ROM, the document would be permanently save to
it.
Example: Hard Disk Drive

Search Engine: a software that create index of database relating the title
Sentence: We use search engines in our everyday lives to recover information.
Examples: Google.com, Bing.com

Tag: a specific label that can be placed on things such as photos and videos.
Sentence: I always tag my pictures and videos so that I know what they are.
Example:

Uniform Resource Locator (URL): a string of characters used to access a website.

Sentence: Facebook has a designated URL in order to access their page.

Viral: a digital video, image, article or action that receives a sudden popularity in a short period
of time.
Sentence: Kim Kardashian video went viral in less than 30 minutes.
Example: Bruce Jenner transition to a female.

Website: Website is related files belonging to an individual or organization.
Sentence: In order to find out more about the Black Cardiologist Program, I have to visit their
website.
Example: wix.com, forever21.com
X.
XML (eXtensible Markup Language): makes it possible to create websites containing more
complex interactivity.
Sentence: XML was made to describe data.
Example:

Yosemite: is the name of Apple's eleventh version of OS X, an operating system created in 2014
Sentence: Yosemite was what helped the IPhone 5s users phone operate.
Example:

Z.
Zombie: a computer controlled by a remote user because of a virus.
Sentence: My computer was a zombie because it was controlled by someone else.
Example: Bot
