The Irony of America
There are three unalienable rights that everyone has as dictated in the constitution, Life,
liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. If these are unalienable rights that are given to all men then
why are they taken away sometimes in the very country that so openly says that everyone
deserves them. A man named Martin Luther King Jr. once fought for such rights for people who
were being treated as less than equal. He gave a speech known as the I Have a Dream Speech
where he said, I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning
of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal. While many
people praise MLKs struggle a success, not everyone in the world can share in this equalness.
Everyday hundreds of thousands of people enter the U.S., but some of these people are here
illegally. These illegal immigrants flee to the U.S. from all over the place in search of a better
future they had before. The U.S. should more freely allow the acceptance of these immigrants to
permit them to seek the better life and future they so desperately wish for, and further make
MLK's dream come true.
Many people in the U.S. take for granted the freedom they are given and the
opportunities for a good life and future. Everyone has the ability to get a job, to earn a living, and
to maybe even be successful and makes lots of money, but in some other countries people cant
do those things. They often do not even get the basic necessities for living in other places they
live in which is why they flee to the U.S. To allow immigrants that really need it or people like

children or women wouldnt impact the U.S. all that negatively. People often complain that
immigrants are stealing jobs but often the reason they get jobs is that they are so much more
willing to work in whatever way they can. Also the allowing of immigrants would allow the U.S.
to further expand culturally by allowing this influx of people from different backgrounds. All
that people wish to accomplish by coming to the U.S. is a better life so then why should we deny
it because of certain situations? It often takes up to 8 months to immigrate to the U.S. and some
people cannot afford to wait that long, especially when lives are on the line.
In conclusion, the law should allow for immigrants to more freely enter the U.S. so that
they can have a better life and future than one they would get in wherever they are coming from.
Then maybe one day M.L.K.s dream will finally come true.
