Week 2 Journal excerpt;

After this session I was able to correct the students work

and give them grades. I first watched how the teacher
marked and she highlighted how she was focusing more on
comprehension than sentence structure and that advanced
language was the thing that bumped students up a grade. I
was then able to correct the remaining ones. Most of them
I felt comfortable grading, the ones that I didnt I was
able to ask her for help.

Week 3 Journal excerpt;

It was great that I was able to mark more this week, so as
to gain knowledge and Experience. I still feel a bit unsure
when marking students work as Ds or Bs. This is because I
know what an A looks like now, but a B and a C, look
very similar to me; just slight variations in language. I
hate giving Ds especially when I know that the student has
put all their effort into it. I was able to mark the Finn
McFlynn work and compare it with the students past mark,
so as to see if they had improved, regressed or were
consistent. This was great as I was able to assess what I
marked in comparison to the teacher and see the students
overall achievement. I was fortunate enough to read
through their unique writing piece and compare marks with
a different teacher; seeing the range in writing and
assessing not only the content but spelling and grammar.
