Observation lesson modelled by teacher

VCOP (vocabulary/connectives/openers/punctuation)
Groups of 3 with whiteboards;
Write the sentence- the moon shone
Upleveling task- put an opener phrase of WHEN into the sentence
- add an LY word/adverb
- connective (While/although/as)
Share sentences to the class:
e.g. as the clock struck midnight the moon shone brightly as the owl hooted.
Repeat twice with a different opener.
Points are given each sentence depending on how good it is (structure/grammar) and the vocabulary
used.

Introduce the new game (word chemistry) and how it works. Organise them into table pairs.

What descriptive words could have you added to your sentence to make it more
interesting?
Can you now add an opener?
A connective?
Can you put at least two-three descriptive words?
Choose one of the words and really describe it and what it does?
Bonus points for the group with the most amount of descriptive words
