area for lunch. I will soon have a sign up for you

to go to online through Sign up Genius to sign up
to bring something for our picnic.

Families are invited to join

us at the airport viewing
area for our end of the year
picnic.
Religion
Next week we will discuss
that Jesus has given our parents to
us and we are called to honor and
obey them. Students will learn that
when children listen and love their
parents, they are doing what God
wants them to do. We will listen to
the story of Jesus obeying his parents. We will also talk about how
God wants us to love and care for
the world he has given us.

To get to the viewing area you go south on

Patterson, take a left onto 52nd then take a
left onto Kraft. It is at the end of Kraft.
Please bring a blanket to sit on. If it should rain
then we will come back to school and have the
picnic in the Ministry Center.

Math

The first graders will begin developing a

sense of time and its passage. In first grade,
students have learned to tell time to the hour and halfhour, and in second grade they will learn to tell time to
the nearest five minutes. But what exactly does that
mean? How long is a second, a minute, an hour? Next
week we begin offering rich opportunities to experiment
with each unit of time so students begin to develop a
sense of duration.
Please continue to help your child study hard for
MMF. It is important that they have instant recall.
They will need this for next year.

Science

Reading/Writing
Next week we will finish our study
of author, Arnold Lobel and his books. We are
having so much fun with his Frog and Toad series.
In phonics, we continue learning about
the Magic e. We will be playing some sight
word bingo and some Smartboard games.
Continue to have your child study their
spelling words. They are doing a great job!

In Science we have been discussing different animal groups and

animal life cycles.
We are so excited to begin
watching our chicken eggs hatch. If all
goes right, they should hatch next week.
The chicken life cycle is a fun life cycle
to study and explore!

For Mothers
Blessed is the mother whose faith keeps her going
Through trials and traumas and cares,
Who handles the easy with wisdom and love
And the not quite-so-easy with prayers.
Blessed is the mother who meets all the needs
From the very first day of birth.
Blessed is the mother who shares so much love,
For shes Gods special angel on earth.

Happy Mothers Day!
