Why MTVA?
Montana Virtual Academy
(MTVA)provides innovative online coursework to Montana's K-12 students 24/7. The initial
academic year (2010-2011), MTVA will offer forty high school courses via the Web to students
through public school districts in the state of Montana. Course content is taught by high quality,
Montana-licensed, instructors and aligned to state education standards, including Indian Education
for All. Montana Virtual Academy meets the needs of a variety of students. MTVA eliminates
scheduling conflicts allowing more students to graduate on time. Students have the opportunity
to repeat a course they have previously failed, without attracting any undue attention. MTVA also
gives students the opportunity to take AP and enriching elective coursework that may not be
available in their local schools. One of the best features of online coursework is that students learn
at a pace that is right for them. Home-schooled children may participate in MTVA coursework if
they register at their resident public high school. MTVA also offers summer school, which allows
students to complete coursework from home or at other locations. Teachers, counselors, and
administrators can rely on MTVA coursework to meet their unique staffing and curriculum
challenges. MTVA staff and faculty are committed to helping at-risk students and will customize
solutions to meet school needs. MTVA is also dedicated to providing leadership in researching and
developing e-learning solutions at the local, state, and national level.
