Week of May 24-28


Reading This week students will study the use of
quotes in their reading book and how they can help
support the setting in a story, as well as illustrate a
characters physical traits and also their mood or
emotion. Time this week will also be devoted to a
review of proper test taking strategies and practice
with reading comprehension questions involving a
variety of reading strategies (summarizing, finding
the main idea, making predictions) as a warm up for
Map testing next week. Students will also receive
their new spelling list on Sunday, with an
assessment on Thursday.

Math
The students will continue with unit
seven this week, with a focus on listing positive and negative numbers in
order, and properly comparing negative numbers and plotting them on a
number line. They will also use play
money to model sums of positive and
negative numbers, and be able to
describe rules for adding and subtracting with both positive and negative numbers. The unit seven assessment is tentatively scheduled for

next Sunday, the 31st.
