personal experiences and helpful interviews from past policy debate tournament of
champions winners. This source allows a more deep explanation about Policy debate and
what it really is today along with explanations about the impacts and counterplans that
are involved with debate. This article explains the basic assumptions of debate and what
the real truth is. Overall the article also describes about the concepts of debating and how
it is better to debate in the mindset of a girl in policy, or at least a feminist. This article
was intended for experienced policy debaters and provides more deep content regarding
this years resolution.

about policy debating and the history behind it as well as how it was created. This book
was written by a director of debate from a well known debating college known as
Samford University. Includes a full record about examples and past events along with
records of historical debate tournaments. This novel is extremely useful to the research
topic as it contains many recordings and raw evidence relating to the topic. Contains
comprehensive coverage on historical debate with a careful examination and analysis of
significant individuals who contributed in the past, all in one historical book. Contains
observations by the author in which debate is not just an academic course, but a unique
and competitive skill.
Cherif, Zakaria. "Explanation about Policy Debate." Personal interview. 28 Apr. 2015. An interview with an experienced policy debater who describes about the complexity and benefits
about policy debate. Mr. Cherif is a current elite debater who is extremely experienced in
the concept of debate and philosophy. He is well known for his ability to win many of his
rounds from tricking his opponents into conceding a critical argument through the way
that he debates his arguments. The personal interview talks about the rich meaning
behind arguments and what they compose of in this form of debate. During the interview
Mr. Cherif mainly focused on his works of policy debate and how novices evolve from
one who knows nothing, to a national well known champion. He intends for his interview
to be mainly focused on individuals who are new in this form of debate and have not yet
to know much about it. The interview details about how to run the arguments and how to
debate them during a round in policy debating.

Described the perspective of individuals and analysis of academic debate compared to
real federal debating about political matters. An article by a Debate coach from the State
University of Georgia, researchers were hired to create a study on the mis assumption of
debate. Includes multiple perspectives from past individuals creating an analysis of why
society perceives debate to be the same overall instead of in different formats.
Summarizes about the assumptions of debate and how they have changed from the past to
todays modern society. This article was intended for the general public to create
awareness and to create more respect to individuals who have chosen to take debate in
their middle and high school year. The summary of the article is in which the author urges
for the public to first try debating before assuming something.
Johnson, Steven L. Winning Debates: A Guide to Debating in the Style of the World Universities
Debating Championships. New York: International Debate Education Association, 2009.
Print. A novel that provides a guide to debating and what professional policy debaters
tend to do during a competition. Dr. Steven L Johnson, a member of the International
Debate Education Association, is well known and credited to logical explanations about
many forms of debate such as Public Forum, Lincoln-Douglas, and Policy Debate. In his
work, he explains about a specific special feature related to this research for the multigenre project, in which he describes about the first high school female debaters and first
african american college debaters. The book details the action and complexity of college
debate versus high school debate and the differences and evolution between both forms of
political debate over the events of time. Describes in a physical format about the
differences in strategy to win a debate in high school along with the difference of winning
at a university. Overall this writing explains and summarises an explanation about High
School debate and College debate including details and an opportunity for individuals to
learn more about debate and join a debate camp.
Kang, Jay Caspian. "High School Debate at 350 WPM | WIRED." Wired.com. Conde Nast
Digital, 20 Jan. 2012. Web. 27 Apr. 2015. Describes about the speed and eloquence of
debaters during their debates in which policy debaters are able to speak and extremely
fast paces. An article by Dr. Kang who specializes in interviewing policy debaters and
other types of academic debate. He explains to the intended audience of the public, about
how young high schoolers are able to achieve such speed and what they have
accomplished in their life ever since they joined debate. Addresses the misunderstanding
assumption in which all debaters speak slowly and improv an argument against one
another instead of strategic methods and well written out team debates. Explains about
the format and what type of practices debaters take to achieve such speed and gives
examples of modern policy debaters. This article helped me reach an observation in
which speed reading is a busy work in academic debating but arguments and skill is more
important.
Lin, John Jordan. "Other types of debate." Personal interview. 27 Apr. 2015. A personal skype
interview with a debate instructor from Gonzaga debate University. This interview
contains much credibility as Mr. Lin is a debate coach for a highly well known debate

university and camp that is known to breed champions that constantly win national
debate tournaments. The purpose of the interview was where Mr. Lin explained about
other types of debate not including political debating. He describes the often
misconfusion of the other types of speech and debates such as Public forum, Policy
Debate, Lincoln-Douglas, Exempt, and Oral interpretation. Containing helpful
information about the vast difference between speech competitions and debate
tournaments. Overall this interview contains much valued information as it mainly
focused upon the diversity of debate and how it has changed over time in history.
