Gallbladder Cancer

RESULTS

GBC is an aggressive malignancy with dismal prognosis

Females 2-3 times more prone suggesting that sex hormones may
play a noteworthy role in the etiology of the disease
Hormonal factors as early age at first full-term birth, high parity, oral contraceptive
use and hormone replacement therapy, have been associated with higher rate of
GBC in women via increased estrogen and progesterone levels
Estrogen and progesterone receptors have been detected in human
gallbladder, suggesting their direct effect on gallbladder function
