THE CONSERVATORY AT MILL CREEK

FIRE SAFETY PLAN

FIRE EVACUATION PROCEDURES
IF YOU SEE A FIRE --- R.E.A.C.T.:
R Remove (i.e., evacuate) all people in immediate danger from the area.
E Ensure doors in the area are closed.
A Activate the fire alarm using the nearest fire alarm pull station.
C Call Fire Rescue Services at 911 and provide the complete address and the type of
emergency.
T Try to extinguish the fire but ONLY if it is still small and safe to do so using a fire
extinguisher mounted at various locations in the building.

IF YOU HEAR AN ALARM --- EVACUATE:

For all owners/residents and visitors:
Assist anyone in immediate danger to evacuate to a safe area.
Leave the fire area immediately.
Ensure your suite entry door is closed but NOT locked, and other common property doors
that you may use in your evacuation (e.g., doors to stairwells) are also closed. This is to
confine the smoke and fire while still allowing access by Fire Rescue Services.
Use exit stairwells to leave the building. NEVER use an elevator.
Calmly proceed to a designated assembly point (i.e., the church parking lot on the northside of the building or the City park on the south-side of the building) and wait for further
instructions.
Do NOT re-enter the building until allowed to do so by Fire Rescue Services.
If you are unable to evacuate using a stairwell (either for physical reasons or due to smoke or fire
in the hallway and stairwell), please wait in your suite to be rescued while following these
instructions:
Close your suite entry door but do NOT lock it. You may also want to create a seal
around the door and air vents in order to keep smoke out.
Call Fire Rescue Services at 911, but only if your safety is endangered.
If smoke enters your suite keep low, close to the floor and move to the most protected
area of your suite. If possible, open a window or patio door unless smoke enters from the
outside.
