Sapphire Newsletter - Term 6

Dear Parents,
Arghh Term 6 already! How did that happen?
Time really does fly!
This week it is our values week during which time
an artist is coming into school to work with the
children. Each child will make a contribution to a
table cloth for our worship table in the hall.
Next week is Enterprise Week. The children will
be involved in a Maths project where the aim will
be to design and make a product to sell. The
classes will be in competition with one another to
make the most profit!

Materials in Science for the latter part of term. .
Handwriting is an area identified by Ofsted which
needs to be improved. As such, we are really
focusing on this area. Please could you help us by
ensuring that your childs home learning is neat and
that handwriting is always appropriately joined.
This term, the children will continue with their
English targets from Term 5 which will be printed
on the back of this letter. These targets are to
help children to vary the connectives they use
throughout their writing. Whilst reading with your
child, it will be helpful to identify different
connectives wherever possible.
Maths targets are in their Maths Passports which
are stuck inside the back of their reading records.
Please help your child to learn their targets; it is
important that they have a secure knowledge of
their next steps.
This term, the children will be swimming again.
Sapphire Class will swim on Wednesday afternoons
and so will need a swimming costume (one piece for
girls and trunks for boys) and a towel. Please
ensure that these are brought into school every
Wednesday and taken home to wash each week.
Thank you so much for your continuing support.
Yours Sincerely,

Mrs Blakeman

Home Learning

All homework is important. Please could you support your child in handing
homework in on time. This term children will be continuing to learn 10
spellings each week which myself, Mrs Dyson or Mrs Challoner will be
teaching them during a designated spelling session.
Every week children will be asked to practise their times tables
appropriate to their Eggs on Legs target; complete a Maths game;
practise spellings daily and complete a spelling activity. In addition, there
may be another piece of Literacy or Numeracy work each week. Please
encourage your child to practise their times tables and spellings daily
even if they are unable to attend school. They quickly forget if they do
not have regular practice.
The home learning project can be based on any of our themes within
terms 5 & 6. It could be based on Animals (Science), e.g. a model of the
digestive system animal or human or a model of the skeleton (animal or
human). Alternatively, in term 6 we will be learning about Rivers so it could
be based on this. The project can take the form of an information
booklet, a model or a picture. The project will be due in on Monday 29 th
June. There will be three prizes for the projects which show the most
amount of thought, effort and work has gone into them. Please encourage
your child to complete the project over the course of the next 4 weeks
and present it in the best way possible to a high standard. The idea of
the project is to get the whole family involved. It is not cheating if other
family members have constructed parts of the project. We want the
project to be enjoyed by all! In fact the most important part of the
project is to have fun together!
