Peoplescreaming,

crying,andlyingonthefloorinagony,itwasscarringforasmallchildlikeme."Thisalso
motivatedmetowritethiselementbecause,thisquotemademewanttowritethisstorysoI
couldinformpeopleofhowdrasticthesituationwas.Manypeopledon'treallycareenough
about9/11andterroristattacks.Manypeopledon'tevenstayquietduringthesilenceportionof
thepledge.ThisiswhyIwrotemynarrativeessayonfamiliesontheothersideofthatairplane.

ExpositoryElement:

WhenIdecidedtowritemyexpositoryessay,IincludedmuchinformationthatIhave
gatheredfrommyinformation,soIcouldfactuallydementratetopeopletheeffectsof
terrorism.Isuccessfullyincorporatedthisresearchintomypaper,forexample,"Wemay
thereforenowattempttodefineterrorismasthedeliberatecreationandexploitationoffear
throughviolenceorthethreatofviolenceinthepursuitofpoliticalchange.Allterroristacts
involveviolenceorthethreatofviolence.Terrorismisspecificallydesignedtohave
farreachingpsychologicaleffectsbeyondtheimmediatevictim(s)orobjectoftheterrorist
attack.(NYTimes,Books).Thisresearchallowedmetofurtherexplainmyessay,butin
greaterandclearerdetail."Terroristsmainobjectivesaretochangesomethingpolitically,but
sincetheydontbelieveincreatingapartition,theychoosetotakemattersintotheirown

world."ThiswasalinethatIwroteafterfindingthisresearchandallowedmetowrotemy
expository.Whenwritingmyexpository,Iincludedmanydifferentstatisticsandquoteson
howandwhyterroristsdothethingstheydo.Thisallowedmetofactuallywritemyexpository
essay.

Poem:
ThewayIwrotemypoemswerespecificallywrittentomakethereadergointoindepth
thinkingandhavingaclearvisualizationofwhatcatastropheshavehappenedbecauseof
terrorism.Iconnectsomeofmy9/11researchintomypoem,Whatsbehindthebombing,we
haveyettoknow,asthecurtainclosetoamiserableday.Thislastsentenceinmyresearch
reallyallowedthereadertovisuallydepicttheoutcomeof9/11eveniftheywerentold
enoughtoremember.Thisconnectionwasverypersonalanddeepandallowedmetoputfull
forceintothispoemandmakingtheoutcomeoutstanding.TheconnectionIhadwiththis

poemisthatmyparentstoldmeaboutit,andthroughmyresearchIcouldreallyputmyheart
andmyresearchintothispoemandmakeitverballydescriptive.
Visual:
Myvisualelementwasapictureof9/11,andthereasonIchosetomakethatasmypictureis
becauseitwasthebiggestterroristattackwehavehadonU.Ssoilanditsoneofthemost
rememberedeventsinhistory.ThewayIconnectedmyresearchwithmyvisualelementis
that,formyresearchIwatcheda9/11movieor2hourspecialonTV,andthiswasresearch
becauseithadrealfactuallyfootageofthebombingandtheplanescrashingintotheworld
trade.Mydrawingwaswhentheplanewasstickingoutoftheworldtradeandthatpeople
werefallingoutofthebuildingbecause,thethickblacksmokecouldnotallowthemtosee,so
theyfallveryfartotheirdeaths.Anotherpartofmyresearchwasseeingallofthereactions,
andresponsestothecrashing,andseeingeveryoneacrossamericastunnedatthesightthat
wasontelevision.Myvisualelementpackedastrong,deep,meaningfulpunchintopeople
because,thepicturewasshowingwhathashappenedatthatverymomentandshowingfirst
responsecrewsrushingtothescenetofindouttheirwasnothingtheycoulddotosavethese
peoplefallingoutthesideofthebuilding.
Choice:
Mychoiceelementwasatrailertoamovieaboutterrorismandhowpeoplewouldgoindepth
towhathappenedthatdayandgoingtoseeallthereactionsfromcaringfamilies,tothe
terrorismattacksthemselvesandhowtheywereplannedout.Thiselementofminewasvery
visualandpackedafeelingofdrama,andseriousnessbecausethemusicinthebackground
wasvery,actionlikeandthattherewasmanydifferentscenestellingofwhathappened
duringterroristattacks,suchas9/11,TheBostonbombing,etc.Thewaythistrailer
connectedwithmyresearchisbecauseinmyfilmIsaythatAttackswillbeexplained,and

connectionswillbemadethisconnectedwithmyresearchbecausemyprimarysource
explainedtomethepsychologyofterrorismandjusthowandwhyterroristdothethingsthey
do.Thiswasadeepconnectionwithme,andmyresearchandwillreallyhelppeoplesee
certainvisualsthattheycouldsee,throughmyverbaldescriptionsinotherelementsthat
havecreatedthroughthisproject.
