Criteria for Service Award Hours

A student may obtain service award hours if the following criteria are met:
- The activity takes place before school, after school or at lunch time
- The activity benefits the immediate community or the school and/or the student
population.
- The activity provides an opportunity to involve the student population.
(volunteer time at lunch-hour meetings may count as long as the student is involved in the
organization or implementation of an activity)

Activities that do not constitute service to the school.


- Collecting money for a charitable organization that is not connected to the school in
any way.
- Activities that benefit an organization or a community outside of our immediate
community in which
only members of a particular school club are involved.
NOTE -

Service hours will be reviewed by the Awards Committee.


The Awards Committee reserves the right to make a final decision with regards to the
hours that count towards a Service Award in June.
Hours that are not deemed Service Award Hours for the Awards Night in June may be
used as community service hours for scholarship qualification.
