Title of Speech: Stereotypes of the Arab society

Introduction
I.

Attention Catcher: How many people in the world are speaking Arabic? In which
countries of the world is Arabic official language?

II.

Listener Relevance Link: As UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) revealed in

2013, literacy rate from age of 15 to 24 in the Arab world increased by 16% from
1990 to 2002 and this figure has had a second growth between 2002 and 2015. It is
clear that more and more Arab nations are attaching great importance to education as
an evitable aspect of long-term sustainable development. Some of them are going to
study abroad in the United States at a university or college. This phenomenon
promotes the understanding and interaction between Arab and the rest of the world
in countless ways.

I.

Speaker Credibility: First, I did some research on the Internet and I got the general
idea of Arabic nations. After that, I interviewed a UK sophomore from Oman, who
speaks Arabic as his native language. He helped me in getting a bigger picture of the
Arabic world. Also, the interview reminded me of paying Attention to the details on
the intersection of religion, recreation, family life, etc..

II.

Thesis Statement: Contrary to stereotypes I have had before, modern Arab people
are allowed to have a degree of personal choice in recreations and family lives
within the dominant framework they have in their culture.
