Dear Ashley,

As I was reading your writing portfolio, I have noticed that you have grown substantially
as a writer. You have started to incorporate better use of syntax and you have shown greater
comprehension of academic writing. You have set the standard high for other academic writers.
Ive noticed in your earlier essays, that you lacked active voice and that you struggled to make
your voice clear and concise. As I read through your essays the biggest thing I noticed was the
transformation in regards to passive voice. Your most recent essays show strong mastery of style,
however, I also noticed that you could use more work on comma placement subject verb
agreement and analysis.
Overall your portfolio shows a strong creative voice and an overall well rounded writer.
You tend to have great content and organization and your effort on style really shows. The work
that you have put in during the school year has shown up in your most recent drafts and youve
made great leaps in becoming a more skilled and experienced writer. Please continue to work on
writing, as the growth youve shown proves to be well worth the while.
