Created a lifelong friendship with an individual from the community by getting to know each other through activities
such as attending sports games, drives, dinners and holiday parties. My buddy for 2 years was a 55 year old man with
Down Syndrome.

Parent Strategies & Bullying Prevention

Discussed the importance of communication with parents and various effective strategies to keep parents involved and
engaged in their childs learning. Examined the detrimental effects of bullying on students learning and how to proactively avoid issues within the classroom and school community.
Tantramar Wetlands Workshop
Presenters: Group of employees from the Tantramar Wetland Centre
Participated in a day workshop, focusing on the importance and role water has in our world. Participated in activities as
a model for how to implement them in the elementary school science curriculum. Reviewed curricular connections and
various resources.
Professional Communication

Important information regarding how to appropriately communicate with both students and parents was presented.
Envirodrama: Using Drama to Teach Environmental Responsibility

Watched a play about how to teach students about caring for the environment and how to use drama as an educational
tool. After the play various ways to use drama to teach important issues were discussed.

As a student in the PLC class we presented the essential learnings of how to implement/ be an active member of a PLC
at any grade level. I specifically presented on the importance of common formative assessments and data analysis and
what it should look like at any grade level.
Learning Partnership Turning Points Writing Contest
Presenter: Catherine Chiasson
Turning Points is a unique program that has students self-reflect on the decisions theyve made and the values they
have. Based on their reflections students write a personal narrative describing a key event in their life, their turning
point. Turning Points is an English and French literacy program for students in Grade 6-12. Students participate from
across Canada and are judged on their writing. New Brunswick recently introduced the program in French and I had
the opportunity to participate in the evaluation process.
