Taught a grade 5 Intensive French class. The focus was language acquisition through theme teaching. Also taught
Grade 4 Language Arts and a weekly Grade 5 Math class.
Attended various case conferences, SEP update meeting, School Improvement Plan Meeting, PD planning session,
PLC team meetings, PD session on co-constructing success criteria in Reading and Writing, assisting with a student
drama production.
Student Teaching at St. Stephen Elementary School

Taught a grade 3 class in their first year of French Immersion instruction. The focus was on french language development and math concepts. Also taught a Grade 4 class pre-intensive French.

Dragonfly Centre for Autism
Was paired with a child diagnosed with Autism to provide a safe and fun environment. We engaged in music sessions
with a music therapist, art activities, exercise and daily field trips to local sites. I was paired with one camper (8 year
old) for two weeks and another camper (15 years old) for the following two weeks.

Created a lifelong friendship with an individual from the community by getting to know each other through activities
such as attending sports games, drives, dinners and holiday parties. My buddy for 2 years was a 55 year old man with

Parent Strategies & Bullying Prevention

Discussed the importance of communication with parents and various effective strategies to keep parents involved and
engaged in their childs learning. Examined the detrimental effects of bullying on students learning and how to proactively avoid issues within the classroom and school community.
Tantramar Wetlands Workshop
Presenters: Group of employees from the Tantramar Wetland Centre
Participated in a day workshop, focusing on the importance and role water has in our world. Participated in activities as
a model for how to implement them in the elementary school science curriculum. Reviewed curricular connections and
various resources.
Professional Communication
Presenter: Blake Robichaud, Communications/ Public Relations New Brunswick Teachers Association
Important information regarding how to appropriately communicate with both students and parents was presented.
Envirodrama: Using Drama to Teach Environmental Responsibility
Presenter: Calithumpians
Watched a play about how to teach students about caring for the environment and how to use drama as an educational
tool. After the play various ways to use drama to teach important issues were discussed.

As a student in the PLC class we presented the essential learnings of how to implement/ be an active member of a PLC
at any grade level. I specifically presented on the importance of common formative assessments and data analysis and
what it should look like at any grade level.
Learning Partnership Turning Points Writing Contest
Presenter: Catherine Chiasson
Turning Points is a unique program that has students self-reflect on the decisions theyve made and the values they
have. Based on their reflections students write a personal narrative describing a key event in their life, their turning
point. Turning Points is an English and French literacy program for students in Grade 6-12. Students participate from
across Canada and are judged on their writing. New Brunswick recently introduced the program in French and I had
the opportunity to participate in the evaluation process.

Co-constructing Success Criteria for Reading and Writing


Presenter: Katie Chambers, Literacy Lead at Milltown Elementary School
Was explained the benefits and importance of co-constructing success criteria for both reading and writing. Participated
in an activity where we as teachers developed the success criteria as a model for how to implement this in the classroom.

Explored various ways to promote descriptive writing in an elementary French Immersion classroom. Was exposed to

Reviewed various ways to teach new math that were presented at the annual National Conference for Teachers of
Mathematics.
Calm, Alert and Ready to Learn: Anxiety, Self-Regulation and Inviting the Whole Child into your Classroom
Presenter: Lynn Pritchard, Guidance/Positive Learning Environment Mentor, ASD-N, Educ. Center Miramichi
Explored effective strategies to ensure students are present in the classroom and are able to learn and be successful given their circumstances.
