I would like to submit that, in Tanuku Town a famous canal popularly
known as GOSTANI which a major tributary of the river Godavari,
is flowing through the heart of the Town. The Gostani canal stands for its
mythological importance. The holy waters of river Godavari during the
Maha Pushkarams will also flow through the Tanuku town. There are
neighbouring villages like Kakaraparru, Mukkamala, Siddhantam etc, at
which the river Godavari flows are very nearer to the Tanuku Town and the
NH5 is also passing through the heart of the town. Considering all these in
view, it is expected that, heavy rushes of pilgrims would visit the Tanuku
town. Under these circumstances, it will be the primary responsibility to
provide basic amenities to the piligrims who visit for the Pushkarams.
Accordingly, a proposal for providing maintenance of railway station road,
bathing ghats, street lighting etc, to a tune of Rs. 340.00 lakh has been
prepared and I request the honourable Chief Minister to be kind enough to
release funds for these works under Godavari Pushkarms.
